Well, took a little drive over to the Bayport ramp this morn, all of 14 miles and 18 minutes from the house...

Not more than a dozens rigs in the parking lot on a beautiful Sunday morn...

This is pretty much what our coastline looks like in our area, Scott.  More akin to coastal Carolina than down in Pinellas...in other words, marshes, no beaches...

I sit at this corner almost every day, 19 and 50, across from the world famous ( ) Weeki Wachee Springs.  About 8 minutes from the house...

Saw this girl about a mile from the ramp.  Rick, your twin...

So that will be her inaugaral splash location, hell, seeing as the traffic there this morn, on a weekday you'd have the ramp to yourself!

Hey Scotty, love to go over there, no further than going to some of the stores I go to daily.  Beautiful drive through forest, basically, 'til you get to within a couple miles of the gulf, turns into marshy hammocks.  No traffic at all...ever!

Man am I looking forward to this...Especially having Scott assist me with getting the engines serviced and running.

"Scotty, get me a #2 Phillips; no not that one; the one that looks like a plus sign". Here Farl, this one looks like an X; "that'll work Scott, thanks".
"Scotty, I need a 1/4" drive, short, 10mm 6 point for this linkage bolt". Farl, I don't see any 6 point; but I almost hit one this side of Brunswick coming down 95; big sucker.
"Scotty, don't put your fingers in your mouth after taking that number 2, port engine carburetor out of the acid." Farl, this stuff looks just like Dorge Gickel, are you sure?

Conversely,
I'm in Scotti's boutique when he hands me an eye loop and say's "OK smart ass tool and die maker whats wrong with this setting?" I say I don't need a stupid eye loop to tell you that were out of scotch, that's whats wrong with this damn setting.

Let the good times roll Aqua brothers... Looking forward to meeting everyone at Bobs; including Bob and Maggie! If this country ran like we do, it would be a better place. I am quite honored to be a part of our group and this is the kind of stuff that makes fond memories.

If I ever had a brother; it would be Scotty, that's why this is so easy!

Bob, I spied that Explorer every time I went scalloping.  Looks nice.  I think it had an enclosed transom with a bracket.  Bitchin' ride.   The ride to the ramp once you are west of 19 is a nice scenic road.  We used to cruise our motorcycles up there all the time.   I can tell you that road is a tad narrow for a 102" wide trailer though!

Yep Bruce, once you get past the turn to go down to Hernando Beach, it does get a bit tight in some areas, but a real pretty drive none the less.  Been weird as of late, seems the weekends are like DEAD around here!  Wasn't a soul on 50 with me going over there, swung back down through Hernando Beach to go to the ONLY Wally World I like at Spring Hill Dr. and 19, place was dead...which I like!!

Not sure about the layout of that Explorer, bracket or no bracket (think a big bush was hiding the transom).  But you know, you can spot an Aqua a mile away.  Heading out there, saw a boat out of the corner of my eye, saw the hull graphics, swung the head around, said DAMN, that looks like Rick's boat!  Pic on the way back!

Was fairly surprised at the lack of rigs in Bayport's lot.  Yeah, water temp is a bit down, but we haven't had any fronts as of late, so come midday, the shallows and flats should be holding reds...

EDIT:  Well damn Bruce, now that I look closer, it appears to be a bracket mounted OMC OcenRunner/OceanPro...could even be an Etec, cowling looks like it...

Farley, looking WAY forward to the visit!  And to rigging Scott's boat!  The Pathfinder went home yesterday, Jose Gaspar's 250 CCP will be heading over to the Zuke dealer Tuesday, which leaves the Scarab 302 Sport.  Have a 30 some odd CC coming next weekend, but I'll put that the second spot over from the shop so Miss D will right next to it.  Near and dear to the heart... :thumleft:  :thumleft:

Yes, Scott my friend, I will be sitting inside there for many an hour enjoying myself!!  Talked to Lewis this morn, he was talking about the Simrad NSS unit he saw at the boat show this past weekend.  I like the units, have done a couple installs so I'm pretty familiar with them in regards to usage and set-up.  Their software sort of mimics Windows, which we are all familiar with.  I like the Lowrance HDS series as well, but I think the Simrads are more user friendly.

Now, here's the deal, membership!  I suggested to Scott that rather going with a larger display, say a 10" or 12", I suggested (2) 7" displays for this reason.  With a single display, one is going to be splitting the screen, chartplotter and FF, or chartplotter, FF, and vessel data, which, IMO, effectively reduces the usable screen display down to, say, a 5" display or something along those lines.  With (2) 7" displays, you can have 1 showing sounder, the other showing chart, full size, no toggling, no reduction in screen size ...just a thought.  Besides, those big screens get VERY pricey...  Nando has twin Lowrance displays on his 19-6, it works perfectly as he has one set on FF, the other on chart, and he doesn't have to touch either to see what he wants to see.

Keep in mind Scott, other than fuel usage, you won't be able to get engine data as your motors are not NMEA 2000 capable.  Even if they are SmartCraft capable, early SmartCraft is it's own protocol, and does not communicate with NMEA 2K devices.  Later SmartCraft does.  Just to let you know...

And something else for you to ponder.  Have you given any thought to a helm switch/breaker panel?  My buddy Rodger (signmansez on THT) can make you one in any configuration you want.  Unless you already have something in mind.  But I'm sure we will chat about that as the time comes near.

Getting jacked, my friend!!! :thumleft:  :thumleft:  :thumleft:
