Craig, you're gonna have to figure that one out...and no watching Okra!  That we just way too far to get what you want!!!  Get her a 90" and let her watch what she wants...build her a woman cave...then you can do what ever the hell you want!!!

I call it the PMS channel!  LOL

Another option is to meet halfway and haul her down...  I know the way!

Sounds like a possible halfway road trip Bruce?

While all this rigging stuff sounds nice, I'm sure momma isn't quite ready for you to split to the Carolinas for a week or so. Doesn't hurt to plan I guess.

Rick, you are absolutely correct.  But a day up there (where Scott can get away from the store, yet still be close at hand), will give him and I a good plan of how he wants to do things.  Then we'll figure out the logistics of getting the work done.

Scott's been through the ringer as far as the time element goes.  It's about time someone stepped up and tried to expedite things such that when spring rolls around, he's ready to drop her in the water and head to wherever his heart desires, knowing that he has the boat and equipment to back him up.  Hell, I'm sure if I sweeten the pot for Aaron, he'll drive up with me in his F2fiddy and drag Miss Delmarva back to my place...he knows the way!

Scott,

I showed the wife the pictures of your boat last night, and told her I got the bug real bad for a 22-2 project.  I didn't realize she had that look in her   !  She said hell no, not until I finish all those other unfinished projects around the house.  Damn, I guess I know what I'll be doing for Christmas vacation!

So how do you guys do it?  My wife's pretty understanding, and usually lets me get my toys, but she might be a little tougher with this one.  Do I go the "better to ask forgiveness than permission" route?  Is it chocolate and flowers for a couple months?  Watch the Lifetime channel with her  :pukel: ?  What's the secret???

Craig

Craig,

There is no magic formula. She must first come to the realization that we have a mental infirmity.  A compulsion. The good news is that it is treatable. The elixir is polyester resin.

Now this can be looked at in many ways. The glass can be half empty or half full. You COULD have an addiction to things of this world that adversely affect marriage and family. An example of this would be Tiger Woods. Or you could enjoy dressing up. Like Dennis Rodman. Or a gambling issue, like Charles Barkley. Or an internet toe disorder, like Rex Ryan. There are many other abnormalities/perversions which can't be discussed, but certainly exist. Why, my Uncle Stanley had a silent girlfriend...well, never mind. It is important that I keep my derail on topic.

She should be pleased that you have a nice compulsion. Lets forget the word compulsion, that sounds bad, we shall hereafter refer to it as a hobby. Other men have hobbies. Hobbies are healthy. They offer hope in a mostly mundane world. They also add excitement to our otherwise boring lives. Take fishing for example. "The charm of fishing is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable. A perpetual series of occasions for hope."

A key to acceptance is mutual involvement. Yes, maybe you should watch Okra as a couple. On Sundays, Okra has a six hour marathon called "Spiritual Sunday." It is pretty good. It shows how to think of others, put their thoughts and feelings before our own, and be thankful for what we have. She will enjoy watching this as a family. We set aside special time a few weeks back to do just this. I remember exactly. It happened to coincide with Hurricane Sandy.

Anyway, you get the idea. Other resorts are bullying, sucking up, and crying/babbling/sniveling/anger/the cool breeze/etc. Or a really nice piece of jewelry. You can PM me on that

Hope this helps :thumright:

Scotty has got the gist of it...  Work out a project list and realize that the overhaul of the downstairs bathroom comes before working on the boat, that doesn't mean you can't do some boat grinding while you are waiting for the bathtub sealer to set up or the paint to dry    ..  Selling points for the project would be that it will be the cheapest way to get on the water in the nicest hull you can afford.. Yeah that's it, and it is good for your mental well being.  And how hot would the boss lady be lounging on the 3 inch cushions on the casting deck while you are ripping lips off the stern?

It's all in the marketig    !  And just be careful how much time you spend on the Aquanet!!!!!!

Okay, as a lurker here, I've got to say dburr's got it right. As long as I get my fair share of attention, boat and motor projects go on at will. May I also suggest dance lessons! You could also engage her in the aquanet...I find some of this stuff a riot!

Excellent! Thanks Lizzybeth, a lady's perspective is very important and valued :thumright:

We had a date last night, why I wasn't on the Aquanet. We rented a movie with Meryl Streep, it was about renewing the marital spark. It was a nice movie, and I can say without trepidation that we had a new found appreciation for one another at the end.

Dance lessons are nice too. Carolyn signed us up a few years back for ballroom dancing. She was always nervous, so on the ride over she would scarf down a couple glasses of chardonnay.

The only thing was, after the wine she couldn't concentrate on the steps. She would step on my feet and I would make noises. She would become embarrassed. It was fun, but unfortunately we never received our diplomas

Keep posting Lizzybeth, Farl won't mind a bit

Wow, lots of great advice from both the men and women!  I really like Bob's suggestion of the 90" TV.  Doesn't Lifetime shut down on Sunday afternoons in the fall?

Since I already have a 205 and an airboat, I probably can't play the "best way to get on the water" card.  And dance lessons...well, neither of us are that coordinated, so that may not be the best idea for our health and well-being.

So here is my plan.  I will develop a project list (well, she will, since I'm sure mine would be too short).  Prioritize, knock them out, thow in a nice gift here and there (I may be in touch Scott), increase the date nights, accept that Lifetime may be here to stay awhile, and be a really really nice guy.

I parallel, find that perfect gem of a project boat so that once the dust settles in the household I can regain my sanity (or what little of it is left) of hopefully end up with something she & I can both be proud of.  You all have set a pretty high bar for me to shoot for :thumleft: .

OK, sorry for the derail - now back to getting Scott's boat rigged!

Well Scotty, give me a call on my cell if you want to chat...

And LizzyBeth, thank you!  You had me    for a few seconds (whoa, what's up with Farley?), but it is great to hear a woman's perspective on what is basically a man thing...

And very glad to meet you!  Glad we can keep you amused as well!!

Friends every cloud has a silver lining. Had Miss D been ready a year ago, we wouldn't be having this lively discussion
