Thanks Lew!

Fellas, CJ and I went flounder gigging last night.

The conditions were perfect. Barely rising tide, pretty crescent moon, south wind 5 mph... just enough to keep the bugs off.

We went to my favorite holes. Saw over 50 flounder.....anywhere from three, and some up to even ten, inches in length.

Never saw a legal flounder. We did see two nice drum, but they are illegal to take by gig.

Good thing, because shortly thereafter, we met some new friends. Two nice Fish and Game officers

They checked our boat from stem to stern, even lifted up the six gallon gas tank, checking for illegal petrol-marinated flounder

No problems, no citations.

It was a pretty night, and despite no keepers, we had a great time :flower:

Had a great time flounder hunting!   :thumleft:   Like Scott said, we saw a lot of small fish, but held out for some 2x4s.  But - none to be had.     But it was a beautiful night, and you can't beat a nice time on the water.     Game Wardens coming up a 11:00 on a Wednesday night was a bit of a surprise, but we were happy we did not go after a smallie or one of those drum...

See y'all in October at Oak Island/Southport!

Scott, she is looking pretty!  But, just an observation.  Aren't the EFI and Saltwater decals supposed to be on the back side of the cowling?

NC folk are funny w/ the redfish. They call slot fish "puppy drum" and the big breeding stock they call drum. They have some huge reds up there too in the gargantuan 40-50+ lb range. They know what the hell the term redfish is, but are somehow genetically opposed to the use of the term. They will call a redfish all sorts of crazy shite like spots, puppy drum, channel bass, but damned if you can get them to say redfish.

True - in the Carolinas we don't call them redfish.  The big ones are drum, and the smaller ones are called puppy drum.

Some of the sandlappers in South Carolina call them spottails.

But you won't hear the term redfish 'round these parts!

We leave the terms "kingfish", "redfish", "mahi-mahi", etc., to ding-batters, tournament wanna-be's, and marketers. "King mackerel", "drum", "dolphin", etc., suit us just fine.

Scott, the boat is looking AWESOME!! When the temps get below 90 (my Wrangler doesn't have A/C), I'm going to bump down your way and check her out.
