My Admiral does not wax.

She does not wax on,

She does not wax off.

Mention waxing and boat in the same sentence around my Admiral and you may get waxed.

She's waxy that way.

I'm anxious to hear some performance numbers Scott, and to see more pics, of course! I'm interested in how the twin motors perform. Mine is a bit of a pig at idle speed. Too much offset with the Porta Bracket I think.

Best,

Thanks everybody!

Had to delay the splash by one night. Couldn't find two anchors I thought were in the storage shed....so had to go to Worst after work....ouch, that place is rough. And plus, the wind was gusting to 25.
Really didn't want salt spray all over it on the first cruise home. So tonight's the night :thumright:

Charlie, first splash/shakedown at Palm Coast she ran 39.2 mph WOT on the GPS at 5150 RPM. Good easy cruise at 30-31 mph at around 4100 or so. The cruise numbers are from memory, so may be slightly off. I was blessed that Fitz had gone through those engines to the nth degree...I don't see how they could run any better straight out of the box. He said that if we were to go to 19 inch props we'd pick up a few more mph to bump her to the very low forties WOT. But hole shot would suffer. So all in all am sticking with the 18's. If she runs too fast the chicken leg would blow right out of your hand

Fitz also said those little Mercs were not designed to run high RPM's at WOT like many engines. So am happy with the 5150.

Test conditions: Two grown men, one fat boy, 20 gallons fuel, wind NE at 20, chop. She ran the same numbers into the wind or with the wind.

You could launch it in the pool.

Scotty I assume you mean 19 pitch. I would recommend going down to a 17 pitch which would give you a better hole shot and give you approximately 5350 RPMs at WOT.

Scotty's real good at some things; but mechanical details aint one of the them. Here are the stats from the original test run.

His engines are rated at 5250 max rpms. These are not high revers as are other Mercs.

His engines delivered 5400 rpm's at WOT with a slight positive trim. (slightly underpropped)
His top speed was 38.5 mph into 20 mph headwind about the same with the wind at his stern. Cruise was around 27 mph @4000 rpm.
He is running 19" pitch Mercury Vengeance propellers. Non counter rotating.
We were running 20 gallons of fuel, light gear, 3 guy's at about 630#
The hull weighed 2300# dry.

Your numbers compare very closely with mine with a single DF175. I forget, did you put trim tabs on her?

Charlie, no trim tabs, the trim on the individual engines will help there.

Went to splash her last night at 6:03. The marina closed at 6 and the "lady" wouldn't let us launch. Same "lady" who suckered me into buying raffle tickets last Christmas

So will try again tonight.

Enjoy the cruise bud!  Looks to be low 80s there right now, as long as the wind has laid down should be a beauty evening!

And get there at 5:45!
