I would imagine he will be back tomorrow some time. I'll rattle his chain on Wednesday.

Nando,
The major difficulty in that install was the physical aspects of it (basically one handed, on my knees, bending down through a dinky little hatch)...

Oh, you're mean Aaron!!

Wanted to knock out Scott's gauges today before I messed with the BIG transducer on the Palmetto...

And, yes, Scott, I did get the ducer installed.  Airmar B164.  Requires an almost 4" hole in the bottom of the boat...

The fuel/water separator gives you an idea how big this ducer is...

And the big brown truck brought me nothing today!! :(  :(

bob, im familiar with the bilge on the palmetto, the one we have is actually kept pretty clean, the batt. switches are on either side of the bilge hatch where the primer bulb is. batteries are forward right under either switch(2 on either side), has a nice powdercoated grate between. i want to say they have the same transducer also. the pumps for the k-planes are aft the batts, along with the v-rod power steering pump. lots of stuff in that bilge. the one we have also has the transom mounted high speed raw water pickups.

cant tell from the pic but looks like a cored hull?

Yep Aaron.  Same grate (though not as in good of shape, took it out to do the ducer), batts forward in that little compartment that also houses the BEP switch cluster.  K-plane pumps WAY back there, would be a piece of cake to get to but Palmetto has 2 sea chests that feed the 4 livewell pumps, in between what you see and the K-plane pumps, as well as the fishbox macerators.

The bilge liner is bonded to the hull bottom with plexus...not really "cored".  But they used the plexus sparingly...lots of voids where there shouldn't be.  It is pricey stuff, you know.  But it bonds like a SOB!!  Fortunately for me, the location of the ducer was pretty well (80% or so) filled with plexus, so I didn't have to worry about the backing nut collapsing the liner.  PITA, but it's in and done...

I was gonna say it looks like it was built with a inner hull liner or bilge liner as Bob said.

Well the big brown truck came yesterday, but mostly with stuff that is just gonna sit there for a bit...cables, 40A breaker, ign switch bezels, batt switches, that sort of thing.  But it did bring a new transducer and a new SS red/white dome light, so on they went...

See what today brings...

Thought to myself, if the old one DOES crap out, and I really need it, then what?  And guess what?  I'm oiling this one...

Picked mine up from HF last night, 25% off coupon it was about $15, $7.99 for 5 blades and I have the tool I needed to cut holes in the boat for the stereo install!

Thanks for the advice SB!
