Well stated Scott. :thumright:
You've got a lot in this gal already. Give it time.
Once you scratch her up a bit, drilling new holes won't bother you a bit.

The Flow Scan instrument (just the gauge and metering device) will make a nice present(s).

Good luck.

Farley, whenever you want to come over, just give me a call.  You know, when you run your own business, every day is a work day...just depends how much work you want to do!  When my commute is 38 seconds out the back door, I don't mind...

Just because I am so tempted, going to poke a couple holes in Miss D today...ohboyohboyohboy!!!

I have become a huge fan of side by side gauges, with the most important one being the biggest and in a direct eyeline for the Captain.  It is really easy to see any changes from normal when the needles are side by side and if they are supposed to be at say 3 o'clock and one isn't quite there, a lot easier to spot then when they are on opposite sides of the panel.

The importance of big guages? Infamous comment from an old boss immediately after he overtorqued a Jetranger "if the damn tourqe guage was so important why the hell isn't it bigger and where I can see it!"..

Other then that both set ups look really nice, Scotty you have a bunch to decide, the beauty is if you don't like it, you can move it on the next pannel.

Well, no vid today as it is just NOT sunny...comfortable, am in shorts, but NOT sunny...

Anyway, I said I was going to poke some holes in Scott's boat...well, there are (6) now!  WOO HOO!!!  What I did was install the underwater lights on the transom boxes, just to "get my feet wet" cutting up this beautiful boat.  I chose a location midway between the inboard edge of the boxes and the chine radius...looked "good" to me.  First, the holes.  Very simple install, (2) mounting holes and the 1/4" wire pass through hole...

ALWAYS c'sink holes in gel coat, regardless of whether screws or bolts will be used to secure.  Screw/bolt threads catch that gel and start to chip it, that is the beginning of a gel crack that will show up later on and keep spreading.

This is the key to installing Chris's UW lights.  Make sure the little wire grooves are filled with 5200, this is the key to keep the wire pass through from leaking...

Shoot some 5200 in the mounting holes, no need in the wire pass through hole, as the previous pic took care of that...

Then install with 3/4" #6 panheads...

A nice clean install on the inside...

And viola, UW lights...

A little acetone to take off the pencil marks and they're done.  Power them up tonight to see how they look.

Now, on to bigger and better things!  Hmmmmm, where's my saw?

Fear not, I blew out the gel shavings in the light housing before installing... :thumright:

Heck, even if the pass through wire leaked it would only fill up the boxes! Did you think about running them left and right of the garboard? A little more protected under there.

SWEET

Guys, the cool thing about Chris, he had them in the correct "Parker White" buff white color.

Fire 'em up tonight SB :thumright:  I'll show Carolyn and maybe at least get my nose to the front of the doghouse

Lewis, we discussed that, that's where Scott had ideas about locating them, I had no problem with that.  I always mount those lights about 3/8" above the hull bottom, unless Scott backs into a seawall, I'd say he's good... :thumright:

I'll get another step for the starboard side, then both lights are protected

Then behind that will go the long dual ram sport tabs with electric trolling motors hanging off the ass-end.

Then she'll be 27 feet long with five feet behind the transom and I'll source a 30 foot triple-axle trailer  :thumright:

Found my saw...couldn't resist.  A helm without "helm" parts just kinda looks...wrong.  So, now it has helm parts!!!

Helm pump and binnacle just temporary, of course, as I don't want them in my way when inside the console.  But I think the placement came out well, feels REAL natural when leaning against the livewell cushion, levers seem to naturally fall at hand.  Had to be concerned with the t-top leg on the port side, left plenty of room for even the pudgiest fingers...

As well as the other side of the wheel and the port lever...

Which leaves us with this flat for mounting switches.  We've decided to locate the trim/tilt switch panel there, below that the ignition switches and kill switches...

So Scotty, here's your lights...

They look excellent!!  Nightime LED pics really don't do the LED lighting justice, you really have to be there to appreciate them.  Just show Carolyn and say, "There cool, honey!"

Anyway, regarding the compass, as much as I tried to "fudge" dimensions today, the SS-2000 just wasn't gonna work with the electronics box.  I needed 3/4"...that may as well been a mile when you need just a leeetle bit extra room.  Not Scott's fault, sometimes you just can't plan for everything.  So we're going to go with the SS-1000, anybody want an absolutely TITS SS-2000 compass, see Scott...
