Just got off the phone with Farley and Scott...Miss D will be here around 11:00 tomorrow morn, give or take a few.  Unfortunately, she will be minus powerheads and LUs as the outfit that Farley got the shift shaft adapters/extensions from sent the wrong parts...most likely for Yamahas.

But that doesn't really affect my work, I can just do a pre-rig for both motors, then when Farley comes over and finishes off the job in a couple weeks (I'll be his able bodied assistant!), it will be a quick rig and they're done...

A minor glitch all-in-all, an inconvenience on Farley's part, but Miss D will get done soon! :salut:  :salut:

Hi guys!

Had a setback late in the day....correct parts ordered, but wrong parts delivered.

Good news....85% of the engine work is complete. Farl does perfect work, and I learned A LOT.

We are pulling to Bob's regardless. Should be there around 11  tomorrow.

Farley has  to go to Tampa next weekend or thereabouts....so he's planning on finishing the final assembly then.

No problem~~ As we all know...its a BOAT

Thanks :thumright:

Scott, when Farley gets back and he finishes up the motors, we will DEFINITELY run them on the muffs, may even snag a plastic barrel, cut it in half so we can get the proper exhaust back pressure and bump the RPMs up a bit...

Hold your horses. We may have a solution which will delay our departure for several hours. The engines may come together after all. It's possible we won't be leaving til noon. Will keep you posted.

UPDATE!  UPDATE!

Just talked to Farley, he has figured out the assembly process to make the shift shaft extensions work.  One would naturally think that the extension would simply attach to the end of the existing shaft, but noooooo...other way around (assuming I understood him correctly, it's early!).  Extension goes in first, then the existing shaft on top of that!  Nice if they kind of told you that!!

So anyway, motors are going back together, they'll run them, hopefully get on the road by noon, will put them over here in the 3pm timeframe.  As with ANY boat, there are always glitches, little things that on the surface look like they should take an hour to do, yet in reality, they take 3 hours, have to move this, rearrange that, drill additional mounting holes...you guys know the deal.

Fear not, she will arrive!  In the meantime, work on the Scarab.  She's almost done...

I just talked to Bob and Scott.  They made it!  They were unloading when I talked to them.  I'm sure the boys will report more soon!

Yes, Miss D is here!!

Scott and Farley arrived just before 5, the boat is absolutely gorgeous in all facets of her restoration!  In fact, I would put money against anyone who would say a NEW Gause Built, YF, Dorado, Young, WHOMEVER, has a better fit and finish than Scott's 22-2...she is that beautiful, and, trust me, I've seen plenty in going on 20 years in the business...

Scott, Farley, and I had a wonderful meet this afternoon, interestingly enough, although the three of us have never met previously until today, it was like 3 old friends getting together for a COUPLE beers and talking chit about boats!  It's amazing how friendships grow over the internet, and then cross over to real life.  Given their contributions to CAS, I was honored to finally meet them, and, damn...they are quite a bit like me!     I know, effin scary...

Anyway, just to prove she's here, well, she's parked in Nando's old spot, she gets dwarfed by the Palmetto next to her...

A little shot of the console and T-top area...

And Scott's big new Ritchie SS-2000 compass, the beer can (mine) is for size reference...

And, yes, and Beth, Farley's BETTER half, was insistent that the boys would be fed their sausage, peppers, and onions, and they were...

Just a great afternoon!! She's knocking on the door now, we'll have some fun over the next month or so, so bear with us...

Bruce, Nando, come up when you want.  Nando, we'll get that stereo chit staightened out... :thumright:
