If anyone has a OMC optical ignition system here is a really good "treatise" on how they work and how to troubleshoot them.

That's Bill Kelly, a good friend of mine, actually worked for him a short while doing some internet sales when I first retired from the Navy, he lives here in Pensacola.  He has lived and breathed Mercury and OMC motors for 40+ years, loves to restore old antique mercs and Jonsons/Evinrudes.

Small world.  I order parts from him now and then.  I picked up my the stainless thermostats for my Merc from him.

Excellent "treatise", as Lewis so well put it.  Just make sure you are familiar with not only you DVM, but also DVA's and if your DVM can accomodate a DVA...
