I need to find a momentary switch to operate the Porta bracket.Rocker style would be my choice, but haven't found much onlineI was told it should be 30amp.Any thoughts?Kee
Gentlemen,What switch do you recommend for use with the porta-bracket, single heavy 4-stroke? Heard it's a 30A capable switch, which a Carling Contura can't handle (25A). BTW, if a 30A is required, and a 40A breaker protects house loads, and I'm running 2 55W Halogen spreaders (~12), am I going to trip the house 40A when I use the Porta-bracket in the "up" motion for an extended period, say full travel? Thanks for your attention...
Use an ordinary switch and a relay to handle the heavy load. Most switches are not suitable for higher amp loads. You can use a nice, smallish switch and let the relay handle the heavy lifting. Think starter, trim motor, etc. All of these use a small local switch with a relay. Just my $0.02...
Hi Bob, We recommend a 50 amp circuit breaker on the battery leads to the pump. The helm switch from Carling is fine. Any standard toggle trim switch will work. The amperage is very low to operate the solenoids. Not sure the 40 amp will work. I would be inclined to run wire specifically for the pump directly from battery.
