Hi all, its been awhile since I posted. Had A GREAT year with the new boat. Used it more than any other boat I ever owned. Can not believe these AS's are no longer built. Had the old girl on every body of water in a 100 mile radius. Fox River, Chain o lake, lake Geneva and the best of all Lake Michigan. Spent countless days fishing cruising and playing around.  Ran 7 tanks of fuel thru her. After working out a mid range bog and a hard starting issue was able to troll for hours on end with out skipping a beat. Hole shot is a little weak but respectable, WOT is the best. 5600 rpm 39.6 mph on the Garmin. Nothing I did would take to 40! All in all not bad for 1975 with an original 85 rude on it! Hope everyone else had as much fun as I did last season. Looking forward to the up coming season.

I know that feeling - my 170 will just hit 40 and that is sometimes - I think the hull has a thing with 39

Hi Pete, No pics. As far as I was concerned the fishing was terrible. (could just be me)There is some creature that has the water so clear it looks like a giant ice cube. Clear as clear can be. Rumor has it you can see the bottom in 100fow. Great for diving! I havent fished the big lake since 1994 ish. Back then the water looked like liquid clay. We would fish 3 down and 6 back right in the prop wash and hammered the coho. These days I am reading 100  feet back to start. Tried the old fashioned way and had limited in consistent results. Was out one morning in August, the fog was so thick I could not see 50 feet. Decides to wing it and head east (into the sun)@5am and wait for the fog to burn off. Well at 8 am I was out about 6 miles running 5 lines still headin east in the thickest fog ever. Not to worry had garmin and full tank of gas. Started thinking what if an ore boat came by? Would they see me? Started to creep myself out when out of the fog a Viking sport fisher crossed my bow. Not even 50 feet away. He had his radar on so I think he knew I was there and was curious as to who would be out in these conditions. (no radio)Needless to say I stowed my first mate PVT- MGD, waved and turned 180.  0 for 0 I was getting a little disappointed. At 35 fow I hit 3, boated 3 and have no clue what direction I was headed after all the line setting fish netting and rigging was done. Could not even guess where I was due to fog. Decided to pick it up and continue to harbor. It was not worth it fishing in this fog. All in all I have to say it was the best day I had as far as fish went. Hope your season was better!!!!  I am not complaining I have done a lot of reading and I am going to hit it hard again next season. Hopefully we will have an early thaw.

Hi Rick, it could be by design! I tried a full fuel tank, darn near empty tank, rough water, calm water. Nothing changed. It did seem like the rougher the water the better. At least it was a lot more fun trying. I swear I thought the hull was going to split when I launched of a rogue swell (that i didnt see coming) decided to crossed my path. But I have to say this is the solidest boat I ever owned. I cant believe the way it crosses a wake at any angle and doesnt dip , dive, dart, bounce. I am use to an aluminum 17 ft bow rider that has too much power for the hull. Thought about swapping the 125 for the 85 on the AS. I think the tilt and trim would be a big enhancement. It seems like out of the hole once the bow comes down she really takes off but after she is topped out I think it would help to pick the bow back up a bit. Never satisfied:) . I guess my true colors show thru, as a mechanic I can fix anything (even if it aint broke)

Polski,
When fishing on the big lake, where do you put in at?  Belmont?  Waveland Park?  Grant Park?  I gotta figure since you're in Elgin, you're putting in north of downtown.  I'm a southsider myself, Chicago Heights born, Olympia Fields raised.  We had a cottage on Lake Delavan many moons ago, used to hit the bars in Williams Bay on Geneva when I got of that age...

And, oh yes, I like the ...

SEABOB, when I put in always go to Waukegan. Its 70 miles each way but only take 75 minutes. I like the fact that I can put in , scan the beaches, fish and hit North point to refuel/restock in th heat f the day Fishing is just an excuse. Kidding I really enjoy fishing! ( and other)

polski, thanks for your return to the flock.

When you first posted the pics of your boat, the rest of us pretty much went into a swoon.

If its not a bunch of trouble, the members new and old would really enjoy a re-post of her pics.

Glad you've had a great year fishing. The fog story hits close to home, and as you say, main thing is other boats, no matter which "secret" spot you're fishing.

Thanks again, and welcome back!
