I remember seeing this beauty. Sorry to hear about this. Glad to hear he is being paid a visit. What scumbags to not disclose this to you.  Makes me sick!

Wow - a real Paul Harvey "the rest of the story!"  What are the chances you would call and get a 22-2 owner, who just happens to know about the other boat and the whole story behind the damage.  Amazing!

Wouldn't it be fun to be in the room with the 80 year old guy, his 50 year old son, and the PoPo Lt. for this discussion?!

Good luck - the way this story develops each day - I can't wait until tomorrow!

Rick, thank you for your help.

The first set basically just shows her from afar, no damage shown.

Then the bow pics, doesn't really show the damage as in in real life. Heavy cracks, big crease, heavy stress cracks. Then the new gunnel damage as repaired by Junior, and the new lifting eye with custom aluminum plate. Then the upside down view of the plate install, then finally the new custom tongue and groove pine flooring underneath the forward gunnel (Junior again)

Just took her out to see if she'd run.. Cranked the engines in the yard. Ran good. Got her up on plane, konk, both motors knocked out. looked around, the idiot had the fuel filter mounted up in the top of the console, directly above the wiring...KA BOOM. Then he had a separate pump bulb at the filter so you could pump fuel to the stern....or to your wiring...Wow.

So just pumped it all the way back to the dock, hand stuffed under the console. My wife was REALLY impressed. She seems so happy too...........

Defintely mis-represented - as I told you earlier, a lot of the damage looks older - "Nothing wrong with her" my a$$, the patch in the floor probably didn't just happen. From your info from the dealer, the custom diamond plate definitely hints of the lifting ring ripping out of the top of the boat. I'm trying to visualize what happened - did the boat fall straight down into the water - bow first?  Did it fall onto the concrete wall below?  Is there bottom damage near the prow? Like it smashing into a concrete floor?  I agree with your guess about the dock - the top of the gunwale damage fits that perfectly. Or something fell on it from above.
Can't believe the repair under the gunwale - that's class work there.  Like the other member that recently had some glass work done and they farmed it out to a kid or someone with that skill set.

It hurts. I'm a small business person, and I have always tried to live and conduct business by the golden rule, that is, do unto others..

Took the old guy at his word. Should have inspected, or asked one of our SoFla members to ck. it out. Had an offer from Rob in Lauderdale to ride over. Skoot too. Didn't want to trouble them. Or, coulda/shoulda flown down myself. GREAT bunch of guys here on our board.

But, as you aptly point out Rick, we really don't know how much of the heavy damage was attributed to Junior. Someone could've gone over 5 weeks ago, said it looked okay for 35 years old, I'd have bought it just for the 8k worth of motors...$1500 in the hull...and would have received the boat anyhow with the new damage. That is, the old man would have shipped it on anyhow, after inspection, with new damage.

Fraud under Fla. law is defined as KNOWING deceit. The old man can plead he didn't know, therefore not intentional. I'd still have recourse, but civil only. I slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night...

Here are the options. Hope the Marco Lieutenant has a good meeting, convinces Paw that Junior needs a spanking, and stands behind it. $3500 bucks, I'm even. Of course want more, been thru hell, but trying to be realistic.

The old man crys bulls#%t, let the buyer beware, had the right of refusal, wasn't forced down my throat. All true. Then I hire the biggest big-wig Marco Island Clawyer out there, ching-ching, 3 to 5K spent to MAYBE collect the 3K. Upside down again, good money after bad.

One plus, richie-riches in places like Marco don't like publicity. Pretty sure he doesn't want this dirty laundry on the front page of the Gazette. What would his foursome think?

The saga continues. I REALLY APPRECIATE all of the thought, kind words, and pm's you guys have sent. Will keep you guys posted. This board is the best.

Sincerely,
Scott Rhodes

Yep Bump, hindsight is 20/20. But, as stated, without the new damage, I probably would have bought her, knowing wouldn't be hurt on the engines, just to get the hull.

The service manager at Marco River Marina said the pair of Mercs with those no hours would go for 10 to 11k there, seems high to me. Looked hard on Google, can't find an accurate value so far. Figuring 7K fire sale.

Reminds me of my new mail-order Russian Bride, some dental problems that weren't shown on E-Harmony....

You know what, ten years from now, won't make a flyin' flip.

Its fiberglass, as you've said before. Sticks and bricks as they say in construction. I'll get her right. Hopefully its with Paw's money. Thanks for offering to ride over when we first started talking about it.

Scott

I sure hope some kind of settlement can be reached between you and the previous owner. The boat was definitely misrepresented!
