Well, I slept on it last night.  I'm not 100% sure if it is what I want to do or not.  It is the size and layout boat I want with the all the accessories I could wish for with the exception of electronics.  Everything I would like to add to my boat such as a top, enclosed transom, trim tabs, hydraulic steering etc. is all on this one.  DO I take the risk with the $$$ outlay and then try to recoup as much of it as I can by selling my 200XF in a crappy market?  It is in rough shape but nothing I can't fix in the off season.  This is what was swirling around in my head last night.

I'm going to take the pics of the damage to a good boat repair facility today to get their opinion and estimate on the repairs to the damage.  At least I can take that number and take it off his asking price.  He's asking 9K but I'm thinking a good bit south of that due to the condition and my expenses to go get it.

Wingtime, just remember cosmetics are a minor issue compared to the mechanical end of the boat.  If the boat is what you want, and the price is right, you can worry with cosmetics as you go along.  

As he did for me, looks like you got a great appraisal from Marc   I know the decision is tough as it was for me having to consider making the trip from NC to Pensacola.

My CCP that I made the trip down there to get was cosmetically below my standards, but I have slowly transformed her into a good looking boat. I made sure the mechanical end was where I wanted her and then I have "chipped" away with cosmetics.

My advice to you would be if it is the boat you have been looking for, offer what you think is a good price and if they bite "go get her" :!:  I hope this helps considering I was in a similar position.  One thing is for sure, If it had not have been for Marc's detailed appraisal with pictures, I would have never made the trip.

Thanks for the advice JD!   Marc has been a tremendouse help with this.  

I made him an offer on the boat and we are $500 apart.  So we are close.  He's gonna think about it and we will see what happens.

I would think so.  It would be foolish for both of us not to.   That is so true about THT...   "oh it's cherry with a little dock scratch near the bow"  LOL

JD gave a great commentary regarding Marc's appraisal. Same as he reported the day before they went down for his.  He wouldn't have made that trip without trusted accurate advice.

If you're $500 apart...sit tight. It'll be yours by the weekend.

He claimed to have turned down or had one of the same amount I came up to.  When we spoke we left it at we would think about it and get back to each other.

It looks like he relisted it sometime around 8:00 tonight.  The date of the ad did no change but it is now on today's listing between two ads placed before and after 8:00 PM.  So I doubt he has any other offers.
