Well like I thought. Know body on the roads. Got up there, got done what I had to do and even had some time to stop at LL Beans on the way back.
I’ll tell you, it doesn’t make any difference as to what time of the year its is. When you have to get inside the fusslodge of a plane. I had to craw around inside a f16 in Texans in the middle of the summer in a hanger that was not air conditioned. Glad I don’t have to do that any more.
Hey it’s a little warmer up here this morning. Friday morning started out at 18 today its all the way up to 22. Bwahahaha I winterized two of my boats but the 196 won’t get done yet. If this cold weather goes away for a week or two. I still want to get out. That is if the ice leaves as well. But I want the temp's to come up, so I can start taking apart my 222ccp. :thumleft:

Take a bunch of pics and share them with us when you get back like I did on my Asian tour.  You been doing some heavy traveling this year it seems.

I think this is probably what folks want to see from Egypt:

Thanks John, and welcome home!

Have been a bunch of documentaries lately as to HOW they were built. No consensus, still a mystery.

One theory is extra-terrestrial input/guidance.... Besides the Great Wall, they are the next significant man-made feature readily seen from space.

 :rendeer:

Rudolf can also be seen from space, this Friday night...be on the lookout!

No spacemen, just a bunch of home-boys and camels - look carefully in the lower right of this pic and you will see a guy on a camel:

The ET thing of course is far-fetched. . But it did say that although the slave labor numbers were undocumented, was most likely in the tens of thousands per day....over the course of many hundreds of years.

Actually most who built the pyramids were not slaves - the 20,000 or so who lived there and built them were separated into two groups - some were paid employees (like the Army, etc.) and the others were fulfilling their religious obligations - remember the Pharaoh was a King/God and was considered a diety to be worshipped, and building the tomb of the Pharaoh was considered religious duty.  The typical pyramid took about 20 years to complete, and they got more elaborate as time went on.

Guess it's an ego thing, but cremate me and scatter my ashes over Sarasota Bay...no pyramid necessary...

Visited Egypt several times in my young years as a sailor (Early 80's) The one thing they always warned us about, and some never listened... the locals would advertise camel rides real cheap, and then a few of the young sailors would go fot it, what they didn't know, was the owners of the camels would take them a good ways out into the desert, and then demand a lot more money to direct the camel back to where they came from.  The camels would only listen to the owner, and the sailors didn't speak camel.   Oh, and the beer was nasty over there.

Thanks for the accurate info.

Its all relative; I`ve climbed the great wall in China twice in the last two years and looked back down the incline and asked myself; how did they do this without a Caterpillar as the 70 something Chinese woman passed me like a Jack Russell terrier chasing a squirrel!

Hey Scott,

Not to be a know-it-all, but the idea that these can be seen from space is actually not true - a suburban legend if you will.  ET input- I could buy that, but that's only if ET can travel faster than the speed of light, or if he was immortal and had a lot of time (thousands of years...) on his hands... At the speed of light, to get here from anywhere else in the universe that might support life, that would be a lot of card games, and literally billions of bottles of beer on the wall- just to pass the time    If I was a visiting ET, I'd stay awhile.

You went through that pain twice?

Cool pics!

Jesse, I'm wrong again. I think I'll give up on the walking encyclopedia thing and get back to doing what I know, losing money.

To validate, went to Google Earth and found two LARGE Pyramids. They may be the ones that John took the pics of, but not sure.

Anyhow, here are the coordinates:

29 degrees 57' 30.15 "N
31 degrees 07' 27.00" E

Could see them plainly to around 37,000 feet, then they went poof.

However, extraterrestials probably have special equipment for navigation...I'll check on that too.
