Well whats happening?????
« on: December 16, 2010, 12:19:44 PM »
Well I know I haven’t been around here for a while, but I think I’ve got a good excuses  . I’ve been fishing my butt off : :thumleft: . Using the 196 I picked up this fall. Been catching stripers. Had a great day only a few weeks back Fished 4 hours of the out going tide and landed over 50 from 16 to 28 inches and 3 pushing 30 inches hard and one was 32 inches. All on flies. So as you can see, I just couldn’t pull myself away, just to get on the computer. But I’m now stuck in the house with fish still their and hitting with the ramp I use iced in and so is the small bay I have to use to get to the main channel. And its snowing its arus off  :x . Their saying only an 1 to 2 inches. Yea right, the weather people up here haven’t been right all this year. And its starting just like all the big snows start, with real little flakes. Sooooooooo I'm just going to sit my arus down in front of the computer. In between tying flies to make up for the ones I’ve lost to a few blues that where still around. I will say the 196 runs good with the 175. Also a friend has been going with me and fell in love with the boat. So much so, he wants me to sell it to him. LIKE HELL.( Can you believe, that he never heard of an Aquasport till he saw my 222 ccp when I moved here. Let alone the fact he never knew one like the 196 was built. He actually thought parker was the first one to build a boat that looked like the 196  . I told him not hardly. So I‘ve been educating him :thumleft: .) Now back to my first thought. I do keep the speed down for two reasons. First I don’t need to go that fast in the chop the wind has been kicking up, and its been to dam cold to run fast. These old bones don’t need to get that cold. Sooo now what have most of you guys been up to? Ok and don’t you guys in Florida rub it in to hard. bwahahahaha

Bob man I know that has got to hurt down their. I saw on the news, how its been effecting the crops. The farms down there don't need that. A friend email me, that he only has a small electric heater in his place and its not keeping his place warm enough. I hope you have more then that. Man I hate having to go out in it up here. So Its got to be doubly hard for most of you. We at least get some what use to it, year after year. I want to start work on the deck of my 222ccp, but I’m waiting to get it in a friends barn for the winter. I’m not about to do anything out in the drive way. At least in the barn I can hang plastic and put my free standing propane heater in their to work.

Hey is it just me or the site keep going down for everyone?

Thanks Rick I guess the snow is effecting my satellite dish. I keep losing the site. Keep tell can’t connect. O’well. I’m hoping to start taking my boat a part and replacing my deck. I’ll take some pic’s. I’m going to do it a little different then what most do here. I just hope it will work out the way I think it will. But I will soon know.

Salt,
Trust me, with central heat and air, we have been more than warm and toasty.  But I feel for those less fortunate than us who, due to their economic situation, can not afford the heating or cooling that they need.  Our home and property is paid for, we live simply, so we are doing just fine.

I know what you mean about working in the cold.  That north wind does not make things pleasant!  I'm installing an arch on a Hydrasports right now, got her bolted down to the wings of the helm area, it is obvious she is going to need coring on both sides, way to much flex.  No way am I going to try and glass in this weather.  Tomorrow, should be fine, maybe Sat. as well, then we're due another cold front.  So, one just deals with it.

But I'd rather be here than there.  Born and raised in Chicago.  I DO remember what it's like... :x  :x

SB is right, its freezing down here, literally, working outside sucks in this weather, driving a forklift in a high and dry building thats open on 2 sides and a 20 mph wind when its 45 degrees out... no fun

got a truck sittin on jack-stands in my driveway waiting on custom suspension, too cold on my days off to work on it but seems nicer on the days im at work all day

Well you guys keep warm and I hope the temp's come up for you. I've got to drive to Baltimore this morning and the report on the bay bridge is icy. A number of school systems are closed over in Maryland, but that means not to many people will be on the roads. So  I should have smooth sailing. Should be back by 9 tonight. At least I hope so. The wind here has been bad coming off the Ocean from the north I just hope it not to bad on top of the bridge. When it is you really get pushed around up there. Well got to get out of here. Talk to you all when I get back.

Yep... it's been cold.   :rendeer:   I usually put the boat up at the first hint of cold anyway; that way when there's an unseasonably warm day, I don't feel guilty for not taking it out.

As for me, I've just been living and building the Dream(liner).  I've been pulling some serious hours preparing for the Holidays.  I work in a building the size of eight football fields with no windows and an AC/Heating system that could propel the Titanic- so its nice and toasty. Working in here so long makes you forget that it's cold out, or that the sun's shining.

It's a good job, demanding at times, and it makes you realize and appreciate how much more planning and work goes into building an airplane as opposed to a boat.  Then there's the peculiar similarities- like the fact that this plane is mostly fiberglass, and the top, bottom, front, and back of the plane are referred to as Crown, Keel, Forward, and Aft.  It even has a "waterline".

I can't wait for Christmas, and for the return of warm weather

OK, Jesse,
I'll be the one to ask...if it's not a seaplane, what's the "waterline"?

Take a bunch of pics and share them with us when you get back like I did on my Asian tour.  You been doing some heavy traveling this year it seems.

It's the center of the aircraft, when the aircraft is oriented right-side up (in lamen's terms).  If you were to cut an aircraft in half vertically, at the fuselage, it would be the horizontal line that falls right in the middle, and runs the length of the aircraft.
