Fuel tank material
« on: November 26, 2010, 12:02:56 PM »
Hi all. Gino here.
I am looking at a 1992 22.2 that has a pass through to the bow area. I am not sure what model this is or if "Sandpiper" is an Aquasport model name.  This boat appears to be in good condition but I have no background info on the boat.

It has an internal gas tank and I am woundring what material the tank would be made of.  Any thoughts?

Gino

You should have a couple of inspection pies that allow you to access the fill and vent hoses and the sender and pickup.  Remove these and see what the tank material is.

Welcome aboard gino  :!:  :!:
My '92 Explorer has an aluminum tank in it - don't know if this is because it is so big (140 gal) or if that's what they were using at that time.
To be sure, I would do what SB is suggesting and pop the inspection covers above the tank and take a peek.

I'm not going to get in trouble right out of the box and you never know who may have a family member making use of the vehicle but....

If you ever rode the regular school bus in your youth, you know what it means. Lately though, I'm not so sure some of the members aren't still taking it around town now and then.

I'm just sayin'
