question regarding a 1967 coburn & sargent 22'2

hi,
new to the forum although I have been reading the posts for about a week. We recently purchased a boat which is titled as a 1967 Coburn & Sargent 22'2. My question is, is this considered an Aquasport 1967 222 Flatback?

Welcome aboard!
I looked back through some of steved's old posts and found this one. Read this and it might help with some history.
By the way steve I saw you had logged on on October 29, I wish you would start posting again, I have read most of your posts and I realize what a great contribution you have made to this site.
Sorry to throw that in there jbyrd, but steve and capn john know more about the history of these hulls than any one I have run into.

Here is another one from the past. Check out barnacle bills posts as he worked at AS in 1974.

Thank you for the info... Im sure we have a 1967 222 flatback. Everything seems to be original except for the leaning post. hope to get some pictures uploaded before we start working on her.

If only boat builders had a documented history like automobile builders...this
would be a lot easier!

So JByrd your C&S 22-2 is a pre-Aquasport boat built the year Aquasport began. It might be one of the last produced under the old name before they switched to Aquasport. Yes, it's a 22-2 flatback and a very cool, classic boat. 8)
Now let's see some pics!!! Come on, quit teasing us!

the pictures will be uploaded either sometime tonight or tomorrow, don't ya just love a good tease?!! by the way we purchased the boat, aluminum trailer, and 1999 mercury mariner 225 for $900 total. thought that was a pretty good deal especially when the merc started up immediately after sitting for over a year. Checked out the compression and all is ok. of course the stringers are wet so we are going to take up the sole and see what we got....could be interesting!

Man that is a too-cool boat. I think out of all the Gen 1 Aqua's (though yours might be considered Gen "0" ), the 22-2 Flatbacks are the most distinguished; smooth, yet dramatic Panga style lines with a beautiful wide bow. I could spot that boat a mile away and know it's an Aquasport. :pirat:
Congrats on finding one in good shape. I look forward to following this rebuild. :bounce:
Good Luck

SMOKIN' hull...her lines are as beautiful now as they were 43 years ago.
Living history, a survivor. You know guys, to the right buyer, she's worth big bucks, right now.
I LOVE a pretty girl.
Welcome aboard!

After cleaning out all the foam and cutting the middle stringer in order to put the gas tank under the floor, we are finally getting to the transom. These pictures are of the mold for the new transom. we are raising and extending it into a swim platform with bracket.
