1999 Evinrude 225 Ficht - help
« on: October 28, 2010, 07:49:27 PM »
Hello all, wondering if anyone else has come across the problem I am having?

I have about 250 hours on my engine runs great between 1000 and 2000 rpms.   And also from 4000 to 56000 rpms runs great, will run until the tank is dry and I have traveled close to 200 miles.  Problem is if I run under 1000 rpms check engine alarm comes on and engine stalls.  If I run between 2 and 4000 rpms, the alarm goes on and I have to come to neutral to get it off.

I have new oil and fuel pump and are working properly.  Water pump is pushing a very hard stream and seems to run fine.  Water seperator is working fine.  Compresion is working fine had it checked.  Fuel tanks were cleaned and all the lines are ethanol good, and lines on engine.

Don't know where to go with this?  Any ideas.

Thanks Justin

Install a Kicker for the no wake zones..?

You'll probably have to take the engine to a dealership to diagnose what's causing the problem.  Might be something inexpensive, like a sensor.

Welcome to the world of Ficht's. This is the engine that was the nail in the coffin that killed OMC. You may have a problem finding a dealer with the proper technical help to solve the problem. There are many pages of technical service bulletins for this engine design. You are lucky to have one still alive. I wish I could help with this one. You will need to find a dealer.
