Need any interior cuddy photos or photos of 1994 250 Explore
« on: October 23, 2010, 11:47:23 AM »
Photos needed.  I have been searching the board for photos of the interior cabin of a 1994 250 Explorer.  I cannot seem to find anything out there.  If you have this boat and have some good photos AND the time please PM me back and I will send you my email for you to send them over.  I have finished the mechanical work and all pumps and engine but I need to deal with the wires behind the console.  Something needs to be custom build soon.  Rockfish season is underway and I hope to finish up and get things going the next two weeks.  Any photo of this area or where you have electronics mounted would be great too.  Almost done!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can wait until the 8th of Nov I can take some pics of my buddies 94 250 Exp cabin when we're at the next gathering.  He has a hard top though and a box under it for the electronics.

That would work.  This is the exact boat with a platform of the back and twin Evinrudes with a hard top.  Thanks so much.

Bimini top
« Reply #3 on: October 23, 2010, 04:45:35 PM »
I have a second boat which I will be selling soon.  It is a 2005 220 Bay Scout.  This boat is a  center console and I took off the Bimini top and put a custom hard top on it.  The Bimini top is in good shape sitting in my garage.  Your friend's boat has a bimini sitting back behind the t-top. I would like this capability to protect from the sun.  I looked up the specs on the 250 Exp and I think it would work but wanted your opinion on it.   The specs on my bimini top are 4 Bows, 91-96 inches X 8 foot by 54 inches Height. Could I set mine up like his boat in your opinion?  The beam on the 250 Exp is 8'0''
Thanks in advance

I believe the the beam on the 250 EX is 9'-0".
You may want to re-measure.

Yeah, as Bob said, the beam on your boat is 9'.  http://www.classicaquasport.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/2778/sort/1/cat/547/page/1
Dave has always complained that the gap between the hard top and softtop lets in too much water during a rain.  He has rocket launchers on the aft of his hardtop so it makes butting anything up to it impossible.  On the flip side a bimini that is too tall is worthless unless you use the boat only at high noon.  He's concocting something for the future - we'll have to see what he comes up with.

Post some pics - let us see how she looks.
IMO the 250 is the best explorer design AS came out with.  No strakes, so she's a little unstable at rest (just a little) but she's a totally different ride then the normal explorer ride - much smoother, sharper prow, no slamming - just a "whoosh" as you go through bigger waves.  If my yard would have supported it I would have bought one, had I been able to find one - only like 250 or so made.
Now, on another point - we tied our boats along side each other and equal at the transom I actually have more room in the cockpit of my 230 than the 250, then the cabins start and the 250 has more cabin and another 2 ft forward.
Nice boat though.

Rick,
How's Dave doing?  Emailed me a bit back, appreciated the contact from an old WC/AS compatriot...

He should be answering himself soon - I sent him an alert to check here. He doesn't check in here often.

Sea trial went well and now just working on interior and where to place Radar and GPS.  Did you ever get those interior photos?  I really need some sort of guide if possible.  Thanks.

This is from the 95 catalog.

The 94 catalog is almost identical. Only the "props" used in the photo of the cabin are different. The "head" photo is the same.

Neither I nor Dave went to the gathering so I didn't get any pics - sorry.  I'll see what I can get Dave to produce for you.
