1998 Aquasport ad
« on: October 08, 2010, 04:45:18 PM »
I found a 1998 Florida Sportsmen magazine at a church thrift store on Hwy 98 in Tiger point last week. It cost me all of 50 cents for the thing. There were several fishing mags there but only one had an Aquasport ad in it. So enjoy! Here ya go Marc and Bob! I just wish the photogallery was working!

I could tell some stories about that particular boat...thank you, Lewis!  She brings back some incredible memories!

This is a pic before I decked her out with a full Raytheon package, including radar and AP.  See those little white things on top of the lower station top?  They were cylinders of starboard with a scallop on top that received the upper station when it folded down...

I have most of the late 90's also. Takes up lots of closet space. But they are so fun to look at. That was the day when FS was a full magazine, like 1/2 thick.

Nah, just the top shelf, full, in a sliding door 8' wide closet in a spare bedroom.  I had to put extra braces under the shelf.  I also have all of the Shallow Water Angler mags, and quite a few Salt Water Sportsman and Sportfishing.

I was kidding with mine about mounting a rod rack for my offshore stuff on the ceiling of the living room.  She said go for it.  She is pretty easy going nowadays but that was not always so.

Spoke with one of the Wickstroms about it.  It's all about advertising and there is just no advertising money out there right now.  Subscriptions don't float a magazine.  The number of subscribers just helps sell advertising.

Biggest size was 24' in '98 they say.  Hmmm, I know they made a 275 Explorer - maybe they started later?

The 97 catalog list 9 models with the biggest being the 245 Osprey/Explorer.

It also uses (97 catalog) the same 245 Osprey photo shoot as the 98 ad shown above but from different positions.

I wonder what model was added in 98 (the ad lists 10)?

EDIT:
Using my highly non-scientific method of looking at "i-Boats" models for 1998, it appears that the 205 Osprey was the added model.
