JD and Lew,

Absolutely, ain't no rush to get anywhere quick. I'm fourth gen here in the hood, and I recommend that you stay here, for a reason.

I've KM fished all over. There is NO bite like a fall Southport bite when the stars align. JD, you've heard about it, it ain't BS. It's ON. And if it's on, as soon as you throw a live pogy in the water you're hooked up.

I can remember one fall KM fishing in Southport that we had to take ALL of the rods out of the water, just to gulp down a sandwich. That's the truth.

My bride can't venture outside, she gets sick. But that's cool. I'll put you guys on my holes. I'll stay inside, and catch some spots. Man, those spots fry up!!

Forward forecast is COOL weather.....Water temp dropping fast, bite is on even faster!

Need some oyster eaters....

Think I will be looking to catch some Kings!  I assume that we will have to catch live pogy's threre.  I am sure that you guys will show me the ropes so I can board some kings

JD, live pogys are no problem. They are caught in the ocean there, and one of the most reliable places to get them believe it or not is directly in front of John's pink house.

I'll bring my ocean net.

The bite is ON!

Looks like we'll be making the detour to Charleston to pick up Jessie and crew. I've been tying king leaders for the last hour! Changed out the drag to the ht100 Penn system on my 302. Also put the NOS PUM I got off the fisherman on ebay. That thing is so smooth it is unbelievable! See ya'll there!

I just thought about this- is anyone familiar with the laws concerning fishing licenses in NC?

So I take it I need a CRFL non-resident license ($10) to fish while I'm there?

Yes, anyone over 16 years old that fishes coastal waters within the 12 mile limit is required to have the $10 CRFL.  You used to be able to fish in the ocean in NC for free, but that ended in 2006.   :(    Kids still fish free!   :thumleft:   You can get your license online or at the Southport Marina.  Online licenses are at:

See you there!

Anyone in need of rods/reels this weekend, just give a pm and I'll bring whatever we need.

Woo-Hoo, the forecast is looking good!

Looking good. Light NE wind forecast for the weekend should be the ticket, and fire-off  the bite.

Ya'll stand-by.... :salut:

Thanks.

Looks good on paper....but we'd appreciate your blessings. We've all seen a forecast go south, and quickly. Nothing like a team. Thanks much. We'll report the good, the bad and the ugly.

And hopefully the large.

Thanks guys.

Here's hoping your weather pattern stays just as forecasted, and you guys tear em up.  I wish I could be there, it sounds like the momentum is building for everyone.  Looking forward to lots of pictures and fish stories.  Ya'll have fun.
