it's neat but you get really different results if you change the variables just a little. I would need to know what a 22-2 CC weighs with an old 2-stroke merc 125 to get the right prop answer. Anybody have an opinion?

Hi Ace3,

Your 125 is rated at 5250 rpm max. They make lots of torque but Mercury kept these motors tamed at a lower rpm. You have a 2+2 engine like my 115's. Idles on two cylinders; the other two kick in at 1800-2000 rpms. They are great for trolling and really get some decent fuel economy at idle. You have a 2:07 to 1 gearatio. I`m pretty sure a 15 or a 17 pitch is going to work for you. If your partial to Mercury props, the Vengence is a good all around prop. I really like the Stilletto props and are less expensive than the Mercury offering. Make sure you keep this engine in the 5000-5200 rpm range at full throttle. As for weight, if you have a pre- CCP 22-2; 72-76 they were advertised at 1850# dry weight. Like all of them she has probably put on a little weight since new.

Oh my yes, it's a 1973, and seems heavy. Thanks for all that great engine information. i don't need a prop yet but now I'll try it out and see if it runs at the right rpm.
