I hate to play devils advocate here, but I want you guys to get the right color.  Mine is alot different than both those samples. The color of my rail is just about the color of a green rubbermaid trash can. see link http://www.capitolsupply.com/catalog/32 ... AID=281609

Maybe different years had different colors. I know Lew isnt a fan, but I can get a really close color match with my pantone book.  Any how, heres a few pics of mine. It was raining/cloudy out so the color is not as true as daylight.

I dug around my shop today and found a 7' section of green (almost black ) "new" rubrail with the white inset . It came with my old 74 19-6 when I bought it about 14 years ago . I'll be glad to donate it for a color sample . The only catch is that I'm leaving Thurs am for Atlanta and will be gone for a couple of weeks. If someone local (Sarasota) wants to pick it up I can make arrangements   . PM me early Thurs .

My 1977 looks very close to Skoot's pictures. What PMS color, I'll match mine up this weekend.

Good deal all.... Skoot, thanks for the pics...Now that I see those pics, mine looks like yours. Not as pretty of course, a bit darker due to exposure, years of mildew, etc...but the same.

Woody, thats awesome....Will pm, if cool by you send it on, fedex on this end.

By estimate, we're about 300 feet away from the minimum order.

Thanks all,

Scott

Hey Woody why don't you cut off a small section and bring it with you to Atlanta. I can meet you and compare it with mine. Where you going to be staying here? I'll PM my phone #.

Here's another idea. When you can, everyone post a picture of their rubrail so we can see if there is a difference in year models. The chunk I cut out looks like its a good color, just different from skoots. I do like skoots color and that would be fine with me but if they changed it back in the day it would be good to know.

So get your cameras out when you can and lets see what everybody's looks like.

Fitz and I were discussing our rubrail color tonight. His boat is a '73. He said that Lewis's rubrail color is the same as what his is, mine is, Skoot's is, etc.....just with more UV exposure. I'll second that emotion....just makes sense. Now lets go back....Lew CUT HIS OFF his boat....but as he said ....she's an older girl....with substantial UV exposure.

Let's throw out that first wombat (bright green) sample supplied by the liquidators..... and go with Skoot's color, with Lew's shape/fabrication as the princess (control) for the production run. You guys ok with this?

We need more feet.....any more interest/commits before I plead our case to the manufacturer? Was looking back on the earlier posts....looks like there could be a few more who recognize an opportunity to keep her original.

As far as the rubrail goes this is it.... here's the chance to keep her correct/OEM. Last production run of 70's green Aquasport rubrail.  As stated, if nothing else, throw it in the attic. Not begging here, just making known what will transpire (with  approval). Anyone else on board?

Woody, hope things are well! Is it possible to get a piece of yours as a sample?

Thanks,
Scott

Hey Scott , Sorry that I didn't get back to you . The rubrail is loaded in a trailer that is tied , tarped
and wil be enroute to Atl Friday A.M.  I am making a radical life change moving from Sarasota , my home for the last 31 years, to Lilburn GA. I have 2 grown daughters living there and 4 grandkids . When I get there and get the trailer unloaded I will get a sample to you . Seems that I will be very near Lewis (Slvring ) and although we haven't met face to face we have been talking on the phone and have plans to get together soon . What a nice guy , feels like I've known him forever , He offered a spot to store my boat and some Muscidines too .

Woody,
Talked to Lewis the other day.  Take him up on the storage, can't beat it (especially since the daughter's gate is too narrow... ).

Spent many a year in the Sarasota/Bradenton area...don't miss it, but sometimes I do...
