Portable is the quick fix.  If you just want to enjoy the rest of the season without going to the trouble of pulling your tank, that's definitely an option.  BUT- You're going to want to fix it eventually.  I noticed some gas in my bilge recently.  I'm still running on the original tank.  I pulled it when I bought the boat and pressure tested it and it was still good, so I dropped it back in and kept using it... but I forgot to change the fill and vent lines, which is where the leak was coming from    Really the only way to find out where the leak is coming from is to pull up the tank hatch under the console and see what you can see.  It wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the tank, but its worth it to check it out and see if it's salvageable.  Good Luck!

Any issue with continue to use it with the leak, other then losing some gas rather than going to the portables. thanks

Yes it can be dangerous to use the leaky tank.  You should really try to get as much fuel out of it as possible until you can fix it.  The leaky tank or fuel lines, being under the console, can create fumes which can find their way under the console.  Then you have an enclosed space that happens to house most of your wiring for your electronics with explosive gasoline fumes...  Not to mention the fumes that will build up in the bilge.  When mine was leaking, I could open the hatch on my console and smell the fumes.  Pretty scary.  I'm not completely familiar with the console on a 170, but I would recommend stop using the tank.
