I'm in Huntsville AL and it's supposed to be 99 today.
I'm teaching a class in a big air conditioned tent.  Last couple days it got pretty warm in there afternoon.

It rained here yesterday afternoon just in time to keep it off the century mark - the wind came up and it reminded me of Vegas, wind blowing 117 degreee air around, like being in a convection oven, but here it was only 99 degree air.
We are in a bid for delivering a bunch of training here over the next 3 years, so I could be here a lot.  Actually it has an interesting history and still is one of the smartest areas in the country.  There is a big rocket sticking up from the middle of the town - "Rocket City". Oh and don't forget Redstone Arsenal.

Gotcha. My Uncle Tommy Rhodes worked for NASA there in Huntsville....he still lives in Picayune...He was an engineer under Werner Von Braun. Mom has a cool pic of him and Von Braun in their hardhats, mid sixties.

Stay cool!

Best all. JJ, hope biz goes well that way this week.

We need rain. Bad. Been watching the boomers come across from GF's area in Charlotte, just raisin' Cain every late afternoon, heading from west to east. Hoped today would be the day....but ck. it out....just like down your way several weeks back, it peters out. Refresh this post from 5 pm this afternoon, to present:

Yeah, you are dry for about 5 seconds.

Careful Scott, don't complain too loud or you might get 5 straight days of rain like I did.  All of my nearly ripe 'maters exploded.

We have been hammered!  Major downpours with wind and lots of thunder & lightning.  Lightning hit a tree in the back yard around 8:00 pm - WHOA!     Scared the $#@%* out of everyone!  Blew a strip of bark off the tree from about 30' up down to the ground and blew bark and pine cones everywhere!

CJ,
That tree will die within a year...

The house across the street from us was hit last week, fortunately it is about a 1000' away, but, just saying.  And guess who owns it?  A Spring Hill fireman!  Not much damage, some shingles and some attic insulation removed (2-Story), but their were 6 emergency vehicles and a Hernando County cop there for 3 hours...

Wonder what kind of response we would have had?
