At that time our bow cushions were made in house at the plant.  So, of course, we didn't have an outside supplier.

Our supplier for Proline wouldn't mind the business one bit.  He's VERY good.  If you guys can makes templates out of cardboard for the bow area, Gary can make you some excellent cushions.  An overhead or straight-on pic would do him wonders, especially with some dimensions at key points.  On a 245/250, it would be a 3 cushion set.

See what you can come up with as a drawing, or I'll do it myself, but the dimensions are what Gary will need.  And if I do the drawing, I need them as well.

What do you think?

thank you, ive read alot of your posts and i still cant believe we have a guy like you on this forum. INVALUABLE!!!

i will commit to taking these dimesions and putting up a diagram for the osprey 250.

im not sure if the 245 is the same.

bob, one more issue, which i HATE to bring up and deserves its own thread, but since i have your attention..

i just got my 250 osprey (2000) from a relative a few weeks ago.  it does already have a small soft spot on the floor, just to the right of the t-top on the starboard side.  is this common on this model?  and, more importantly, would you foresee this being a complicated issue if i were to take it somewhere to get fixed.  id think they'd at least have to unbolt the ttop and raise it a bit just to be able to get in there to grind/repair the area.

any info/advice you can provide would be GREATLY appreciated.  I just upgraded from a 1981 Walkaround model (i never did know the exact model, lol).  This is now my 2nd boat, and 2nd aquasport.

here's some pics of old and current... thanks!

81,
The 245 is identical to the 250, they just renamed it in '97-'98 timeframe.  No changes.

I left AS/Wellcraft in May of '00 so it's a good possibility I built your boat.  Do me a favor and take a pic of the wiring inside the console and I'll be able to tell you...as long as someone hasn't messed with it too much! :x

BTW, where's the backrest on your leaning post?

81 and Marc,
These are basically the dimensions Gary will need, but patterns will help.

I'm thinking a 2-cushion set split down the middle would do the trick, not 3.  Plus it would keep the cost down.  You also need to decide what foam thickness you want, 2" or 3".  Rarely do you see 4" with cockpit cushions.  If you want to check him out, he goes by the screen name CUSHIONGUY on my site (you can click the link in my sig to get there), his name is Gary Helms, is company is G & H Sales, he's been making all of Prolines cushions and bolsters for YEARS.  He's located in Crystal River/Homosassa, and he will ship.

i'll take those measurements today and look up your recommendation.

if you built my boat that would be awesome.  the wiring inside the cabin looks great sans for a bunch of cables that are zip tied to the steering lines running down into the hull.  i'll snap a pic today when i get home for you.

so.. how far are you from fort lauderdale and would you interested in some aquasport floor repair work!?!?

 :D   :D   :D   :D

...my wife is ALL OVER me for those cushions.. i'll definitely reach out to your guy...

81,
Here's Gary's email.  ghelms@tampabay.rr.com.  Listen, I'm an electrician/engine guy, not a finisher.  I guarranty you there are tons of good glass guys in the Lauderdale area that can do the job for a couple hundred bucks.

And BTW, I didn't attach anything to the steering hoses.  They were secured to the aft inside wall of the console by themselves with Adel clamps...

10-4!

i didnt mean to imply i thought you did the wiring mess, just meant it looks like someone has gotten in there at somepoint in the last 10 years and done a little homemade wiring!

i'm not one to talk though, i just "re-did" a little bit of it myself when i got the boat.  only the gps was working when i got the boat, none of the other electronics were working so i had to weed through some of the "aftermarket installs" to get the rest of the helm functioning properly.  its all working again now but i could have done a better job at wiring if i had spent a little more time on it, im just not as good at that as i'd like to be!

either way, i'll snap a pic of it so you can see if it stirs up any memories..

thanks again for all the advice/tips!  they are HIGHLY appreciated!!

This is a little 18 flats boat I did over the winter (complete rewire, stem to stern)...

Check out some others on here...just as good, if not better! :salut:   You've come to the best site on the web!  The guys are super proud of their Aquasports, I'm proud to have built them, and you will always find the help you need!

I'm a member of Great Grady, Classic Parker, Classic Mako, Classic Seacraft, Seaswirl Striper Owners, Florida Sportsman, Shamrock Owners, as well as THT and reelboating.com.  None of the others hold a candle to this site... :salut:  :salut:

My hat is off to Rick K and the members who make it a great place... :thumleft:

Thanks 81 an Seabob,
I was not on here all weekend, trying to get the boat finished.  Spent the weekend out in the field, under the boat painting the bottom, I used the Interlux VC performance Epoxy (White) after grinding all the anti-fouling paint off, what a job!!! and it has been smokin hot here!! I will post some before and after shots on a new thread.  My fear is, after all this hard work (9 months worth) where I am going to be able to go?? They closed the fishing in state waters last night at midnight, from Pensacola Beach west to the AL line.  I would like to know what pricing you come up with on the cushions though, I'm not giving up on boating, just might have to cruise the bay and ICW??

Marc,
That really sucks what you guys are getting from the spill...and it will probably get worse, and start moving east.  Frankly, I don't see an end to it until the September/October timeframe as I don't believe BP is going to have the best of luck with these relief wells...

Anyway, tell you what I'll do.  I'm going to guess on some dimensions and see if Gary can give me a ballpark figure.  I'm going to go with white vinyl, about medium grade, 2" foam, (2) cushions with snaps installed.  See what he says.  Sound good?  Although dimensions would help... :thumleft:

Bob,
Sounds good, I won't be back to the boat for a day or 2 when I put it back on the trailer, shouldn't be hard to get a square inch/foot figure to throw in, that should get Gary real close, as these are not intricate in design.  For the final he would need some cardboard templates though to get it exact.  I have an older gentleman a few streets over from my house who works from his home, he did my leaning post seat and back rest, and the front console seat, and did outstanding work, very inexpensive, but he kind of takes his time getting things done?? I may get him to quote a price also.  I'll keep everyone informed.  Thanks
