Opinions on a 2004 225 Aquasport Tournament Master as a viable offshore boat.
                                                                                  Thank you

The 225, whether an Explorer or Osprey does just fine offshore.  Out in the Gulf, where we get a lot of "confused seas", the Osprey can be a bit wet, but she easily handles 3-4s, just gotta keep the speed down. The Explorer is a bit drier, although anybody sitting at the stern will get wet in the same conditions.  If you're on the Atlantic side, where you have swells, she does just fine.

BTW, where are you located?

Thank you seabob. I just purchased her two weeks ago. Made a deal I could not refuse. Has 278 hours. She has a 200 ox66 yamaha which I think is a little under powered for this weight boat but we"ll see. It dosen't seem to have enough room on the transom to mount dual 150"s. Does this model have any " quirks" I should be aware of? I am having all the upholstery being re done to original loacally. I will post some pictures when I get her back. Thanks

fl,
An option was twin 150s, but when she got that option, the transom wasn't cut.  See on each side of the transom cap where it dips down and has that POC vaccuformed trim there?  On a twin install, the transom cap just went straight across from the high point on one side to the other, and was finished with 2 pieces of aluminum L-channel.  That option also used an unbalanced, splashwell mount steering cylinder as there wasn't any clearance for a traditional front mount cylinder at starboard hardover.

The single 200 was her base moter, 225/250 an option.  But she would be great with a 300, plus you wouldn't have the extra drag and fuel burn of a second motor.  When the new Yamaha 300 V-6 comes out, that could be a serious consideration because chances are there will be no need to de-rig the boat.  Simply de-rig the motor, yank off the old, hang the new, re-rig and you're good to go.

Just a thought, although I'd throw a Suzi 300 on her... :thumleft:

Thank you so much for all the information. I'll most likely run the 200 the rest of the year. I was told if I re rigged with the new yamaha that it would require new controls. i guess they have gone to all electronic controls. Anyway thank you.

I'd suggest a Yam 300 HPDI, but they have "issues"...

Seabob,
I have purchased the rear jump seats for this boat. They came with the back pads but I cannot mount them without the plastic channel. I believe the mounts to be the same as the coaming pads. Any ideas as to where I could purchase these? Thanks

Here's what you want...http://tacomarine.com/item--1-1-4-x-5-8-Canvas-Upholstery-Track-Welting--V25-9632.html

Just click on the "Where to buy" and it will tell you who carries Taco material in your area.  I'll tell you this, though, it's going to be hard to find in the small amount you need.  Those backrest cushions are only about 15" wide, so all you would need would be a foot.  Call Taco CS, they may send you a small section at a minimal price...

So where the hell you at?  I'm guessing down here or Jersey, based on your screen name...

Boatless right now, have a buddy in Dunedin that takes me out whenever I want to go in his Proline 32 Express.  I like inshore, as I love snook and reds, so anywhere you have bays and protected water, from Tampa Bay down to the south end of Sarasota Bay, those are my grounds...

This might give you a clue as to where I came from...http://www.classicaquasport.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3661&p=22796#p22796
