Well, as detailed analysis as CB has given regarding the situation, I would have to agree with him.  There really are so many opportunities out there that don't involve nearly the work nor the expense, and you'll be out on her a lot sooner with no clouds hanging over her...

BTW, Scott, when you gonna get me pics of the Bertram?

Speaking of Bertram pictures, anyone see these before?  Even the big names have problems sometimes.  (I won't clutter Scott's thread with the pics.)

Guys, I appreciate your responses. I had as Bob stated wanted one ready to go. Through hook and crook, it didn't happen. And I took it based upon the right of inspection, refusal, and return if need be. Therefore, figured I saved a K by not flying down and staying, inspecting, etc. I effed up there.

Thats water over the dam, licked my wounds, and was good with a complete build, like Hammerhead, but open transom. So now that she's basically totalled....

Thats why I requested everyone's thinking. I really do like the hull; I like the twins; I like the ride. I like that she's an Aquasport. The reason I started looking for re-done Aquas is there was a 19-6 Osprey here in town refurbed ice blue hull, white interior....really beautiful. So guess I was hooked.

The boat COULD be repaired, exactly as Lew, SB and Fitz describe, but....as the glass guy says, a shitload of work and money to fix a very strategic, structurally important part of the boat...and he couldn't guarantee that eventually the repair wouldn't show through under stress with ocean use. He described it as breaking a stick, then duct taping the stick...you still have a broken stick.

He thinks I'd be better off buying the same boat with a blown engine, and cannibalizing Miss Nasty. I've found a '74 model 22-2 with tandem trailer for 800 bucks. And Capt John says could donate the other hull to the tech school here and get a decent tax write-off.

The new tandem trailer you guys saw hasn't been paid for, hasn't been titled, the dealer said he'll take it back....We're friends, gonna throw some bucks his way for putting up with me, so good there.

Capt. Bob, your analysis is pretty much my thinking too. Its a buyer's market out there right now, there are some good deals floating around. And Jesse, your right, doesn't have to be an Aquasport.

If I can prove criminal negligence on the seller, all the above changes drastically. The boat remains in his name, I have not titled it. My guy here is willing to testify as to his analysis. I bet we'd get the old guy's attention if he was handcuffed and taken to jail, eating dogfood with the crackheads. Maybe the rest of his foursome will come and visit. The chances of this are slim, but I'm going to push the envelope.

When I bought this boat, I let emotion take precedence over good judgement. I can tell you all, my friends, that it won't occur again.

I'm still kinda frozen-feeling.

Thank ya'll for going the extra mile. I REALLY appreciate it.

PS, SB, thanks, working thru Sat, will take those pics Sunday and send 'em...thanks bro.

why does every one of lifes' lessons have to be so hard.we all have made a mistake or 3 in our time some of us more than others[me].when you get the new boat all rigged and ready, drive it down to the ramp, slip it in the water and get behind the wheel for the first time it will be that much sweeter.

I'm sorry Scott- after our conversation, I was under the impression that you weren't dead-set on owning an Aqua.  I mean, it'd be great if you found another one- I'm sure I share a lot of other members' sentiments here in that I don't want to lose your presence on the forum.

I remember you telling me that you were looking for something around the same size (21'-22') so you could still chase Kings.  If so, you may want to consider the CCP or the Gen 2 Aqua's.  I'll be honest with you- When we stopped for the Pee break while we were following you guys out to sea last Saturday, I was happy when Lewis suggested we just fish where we were.  I'm sure you remember, the water was very forgiving that day, but even so, my 19-6 was beating and banging the whole way out.  It really isn't a big water hull.  I like to think the high sides and upturned bow are "just in case".

I completely understand, empathize, and sympathize...

Pete said it best.  Even after the 2 years of time and money I put into my 19-6 in my free time, all the purchases of gas, beer, bait etc, and all the headache of maintenance and upkeep and just getting the damn boat to the ramp, when you're at the helm and everything is right, IT'S ALL WORTH IT.

Keep your head up and keep looking.  As Capt. Bob mentioned, you've got a lot of friends here, and I'd be happy to take a look at anything you're interested in near Charleston.

Jesse, thanks, I really appreciate it.

No, doesn't have to be an Aqua....but the more I think about it, something about those lines are mesmerizing. I remember admiring those boats when I was 11 years old.

And the little bit I ran her, she rode actually better than I thought....maybe 'cause she weighed 12,000 lbs.??

My wife says I need to undergo doctor's care if I even THINK about another old boat....

I'm feeling better. Jesse, one of the highlights of the weekend was hanging with you guys. Thanks so much for the kind words.

Best,
Scott

I tried to call you earlier but I will say the same thing here so everyone knows where I am coming from here.
I would make it my mission in life to totally f#%@ this guy over forever. I would not stop at criminal, I would spend every dollar I could spare to ruin him , his reputation, his standing in the neighborhood, His standing in the business arena everything. I would not stop till he was at my feet begging for mercy and then I would run my size 14 shoe up his a$$ just for good measure. Thats just me though

Ok boyz and girls, bad potty training is acceptable but being a potty mouth is not - THT we're not.

Gran, if they can cut an AS in half, extend it by 2 ft and sew it back up safely, I think anything is possible.  I agree with the example your repair guy gave you about the stick though but maybe resin brings it all back together?
I think when we first chatted I did mention that it looked like it was dropped off the lift onto the concrete pad below it.

Tough call my friend.

Yep.  A properly done repair is NOT like a stick with duct tape.  It's stronger than original.  Is it cost effective?  I have no clue but I doubt it.

Thanks all, and Rob, will holler a.m., we just came back in from dinner (for a change).

Rick, re what happened, you called it. And yes, it can be attempted to be repaired, but at a high labor expenditure. And forgot to mention this, and my apologies for forgetting: they noticed that the hull had been torqued over due to the drop....the cap is twisted to the starboard side, therefore the forward portion of the hull is twisted as well. Miss Marco cannot be correctly repaired, cannot be brought back. Stick a fork in her, she's done.

They were honest enough not to take my money, which after all of this is a breath of fresh air.

Guys, I'm with CB; there will be not a penny more devoted to Miss Marco. Those that saw her last weekend didn't say much, out of politeness, other than "Hey I like the engines" . Thanks guys....at least you saw her.

CB, just caught your latest post...like your thinking....

And because of the input of all, am now working on a plan...gonna sleep on it tonight. Thanks for your posts, pm's, e-mails, calls, advice and support. Every one was greatly appreciated.
