22-2 from Marco, final chapter

Well, have finally reached the end of the journey. My aplogies to my fellow members and good friends here on the board for the recent silence. But since was involved in arbitration, thought it would be best.

The fine attorney in Tampa did his best: Charles C. Allen Jr. of Marco Island was sent two certified letters of demand, responded to the first but not the second. He claimed a deal was a deal, I must now have buyer's remorse.

The attorney said we could take him to court, but it would be a minimum of 2K and probably much more as his attorney would just keep postponing. I could end up spending 4K plus to ATTEMPT to MAYBE get $4K back.....with absolutely no guarantee of getting anything back.

The attorney suggested as a last-gasp effort to call Allen, make nice-nice, and ask how we could reach finality. I agreed, called the old bastard. His line was disconnected.

So, then decided to call the nice reporter lady at the Marco Island Eagle.

She was on it like white on rice. Here is the article. Bet he'll be the talk of the Snowbirds when they all get back this fall.

Gonna run the boat as-is this summer. Complete rebuild this fall. It will turn out to be a nice boat.

Thank you all for your great advice, friendship, and support.

Best,

Scott

Sorry it didn't work out the way you had liked. What goes around comes around, it always does!!! Sounds like a few people know of him and his son.

Well, Scott, you did your best.  Glad the local reporter ran a story, at least these 2 will know why people look at them and give them this...

Good luck on the project, put the ordeal behind you and concentrate the efforts on the boat...and slap a 200 on her!

His line was disconnected.

According to the paper, disconnected at both homes.  I hope the old basterd died.  Yeah, I know, my wife has been telling me for years that I'm a cold-hearted bastard.  Sorry, I have no use for a thief.

Scott, you know how I feel on this issue.  Hang in there my friend.  In time you will be able to joke about it.

I wish I had joined earlier..... I live about 30 minutes from Marco, and I am always looking for an excuse to drive my GTO somewhere.

I'd have definitely checked it out for you!

Sorry for the bad deal!

Well since I've been caught, I'll finish.
While several auto manufacturers used "three deuces" for fuel delivery systems, the tri-power term is most associated with Pontiac.
Goats in my day with tri-power were equipped with 421 c.i. motors though I believe you could special order a 389 with this setup also. TP's appears to have a 455 c.i. so he either changed mills or is running a later model year. Both Chevy (409) and Mopar (440) dabbled in the triple play, as did others. Of course every wannabe hotrodder dreamed of this setup.

Now back to Marco Isle.

Scott, like I told you this guy is an a$$hole, was an a$$hole and will always be an a$$hole! He will one day figure out that being a jerk most of the time is not a good thing! I would love to see his face when he shows up back down in Marco. He will get what he deserves!

Now to totally hijack this thread I was at advance the other day when this showed up. Pretty cool! 1970 and a really, really nice restoration.

One more diversion on the thread hijack and then I'll stop.

LOL...

You nailed it......

I "restified" a '66 GTO convertible over an 8 year period (one of the many reasons that my Aquasport sat all that time.... only so much money and hours in the day).

It's got a full roller .030" over 455 with aftermarket heads, highly modded '66 Tripower (bigger carbs, ported repro aluminum manifold), Tremec TKO600 5 speed OD trans, Moser 12 bolt rear. She runs high 7's/ mid 90s in the 1/8th mile. It definitely has more in it, but trying to launch a manual 'vert, with all of it's frame flex has proven to be a tough nut to crack.

I figured that you guys would appreciate the work, seeing as how deep many of you get into boat rebuilding!

It started like this:

After 8 years and a lot of $$$$.....

She's a beast.....

In fact, I am gonna jump in and go get a haircut before the rain starts!

Awesome Goat, Tri!  You did an excellent job on here!

Scott,
You ought to keep in touch with that reporter periodically, just to keep her mind fresh.  'Cause someday those a**holes will show back up down there, and a nice little interview to get their "explanation" would be cool...BUT THEY'LL JUST RUN AND HIDE!!!
