Paint? Heck no! Getcha some On-Off Hull Cleaner, a hard brush, and get 'er done! Rust stains, any stain, gone.

PS.....it's acid. Get it down-wind, wear rubber gloves, don't breathe the fumes, and don't go barefoot, unless you want to cure athlete's foot, too..

Soft-Scrub works well too, but it's got bleach in it, so like G3 said, be careful!

Get them cleaned and then you need to run some LED tape in them.lol

Something a little less harsh than On-Off is Rust Aid you can get at lowes, home depot, etc. Works great on rust stains, tanic acid stains, it cleans all the iron stains from my sprinklers on the stucco and sidewalk instantly! It is amazing stuff and not as toxic as ON-OFF which I will use as a last resort.

Shop ebay and get your presized piece? what if you need a custome length to fit the opening?
I have waterproof LED's in red and blue in stock. the Size will be within 3inches of what you need(due to cut restrictions on tape) 12.00 per foot and spec the length of wire you need to run to a switch. If you have a problem I am in the US

Bump - why don't you list your biz in the Resources forum page?  I've been looking for a good domestic source of LEDs - I'm sure there are others out there as well.  Just got a package from over the pond today with 1 watt LEDs - 20 days to get here - I bet you would do better than that!

i painted mine this year, with the special krylon adhesive paint. Came out great no chipping at all, i actually just posted about this in another thread, i hate those inserts they are flimsy and cheap. Im going to eliminate mine next year and make that area storage by making a fold down cabinet out of starboard.
