repowering the AS!
« on: April 26, 2010, 01:07:07 AM »
ive been fighting my 112 J'Rude, steering tube, steering arm, fuel and carb issues over the past 6 months...

one of my customers in the marina is replacing his '90 evinrude 200 with a new merc 225 optimax and he's selling me the 'rude. ive known the guy for many years, and he's the original owner, keeps it looking and running like new. 200 will be a great improvement over the 112!

finally getting around to swapping the motors, pulled my old 112 off on monday, pulling the 200 off my customer's boat and hanging it on mine in the morning, cant wait :bounce:

brought the boat to my work so i wont have to in the morning, right as i pulled through the back gate, port side hub blew out and the tire came off the axle

I can't wait to hear how this repower goes.  I'm going to pick up my "new" to me Merc 200 for my 200XF.   Thank god you made it to work before that hub came off!   Service those bearings man!

swap went along pretty smooth, just gotta hook up the wiring harness, and run hydraulic hoses. and get a way steeper pitch prop

i got a new axle, hubs, leaf springs, hangers, and bunk brackets waiting to go on, just been too busy lately to get it done

That thing looks mean!  Can't wait until I get mine hung!  question on the shift cable linkage.  Is it a push or pull to shift it in to fwd gear?
