Time to write letters and show up at hearings.
Looks like they will add 15 minutes to the time it takes to traverse Sarasota County via the ICW.  Lots of seagrass areas as well.

I was reading through some of the stuff and saw this
Quote
One type of exemption permit issued pursuant to 68C-22.003 allows qualified commercial fishers or professional fishing guides to operate at speeds up to 20 MPH in some Slow Speed zones while engaging in commercial fishing or guiding activities. (Guiding permits allow higher speed travel only when paying customers are onboard while commercial fishing permits can allow for a variety of activities including searching for fish, setting nets, and/or running crab traps; none of these permits applies on weekends or holidays.)
I've seen guides on plane going through no wake zones before and thought they were just blowing it off - now I see they might have been allowed to do that - shows where the lobbyists are, huh?  After further reading, I still think they were blowing off the idle speed though - none of the zones were exempt in the report.
BTW, the public meeting was March 2 in Sarasota so we missed that one.

Oops.  I'm always a day late and a dollar short.  It's nice how details always show up after the fact.

Yeah, guides and commies can get exemptions from some areas.

I will have to say that here on Terra Ceia Bay the slow zones 300 ft. from any shoreline has helped a little.  Not the manatees.  It helped stop the guys that buzz the shoreline "sight fishing" for redfish.  There are still some that do it but I have not seen much enforcement.
