Port St. Lucie, Florida to Fairbanks, Alaska
« on: February 22, 2010, 01:45:03 AM »
Thought some of you would find this interesting: Canceled an order for a brand new Sea Hunt and researched used boats until my head hurt.  Bought a 1998 AS 215 DC in Port St. Lucie - yes , sight unseen - just photos, e-mails and phone calls!  Sold the older 200 Johnson on it and got a new Suz 175.  Ordered a beefy custom built galvanized trailer from Continental with 5000# axles, additional cross members and 16" wheels.  Catalog trailers don't fare well in Alaska.  We fly down in mid April to tow it back with a 2001 Dodge 2500 diesel.  Will stop in Biloxi, Lake Powell, Lake Atlin in Yukon and maybe Skagway with a run over to Haines.  We'll use the boat in some lakes and Valdez after it's here. There are no AS 215 DC's in Alaska that I know !!! I'm sure the locals will have a comment or two ! Just joined your on line club. Look forward to learning more about the boat !  Catfish

Welcome aboard CH. :salut:

Just curious, being from Fla.
Why choose and open deck plan rather than a cuddy/walkaround?
Even with global warming it still gets kinda cold up that way.  :rendeer:

Good luck and keep us posted during your sojourn.
