Mercury 75 Question

ON my 170, I run a 75HP Mercury (1984) and it pushes the boat roughly 29-30MPH. Is this the range the motor should be pushing the boat? This is the first Merc I have ever owned (as well as Aquasport) and am not that well knowledgable of the motor.

I have a '88 110 'rude and it tops out at 38, even with my big windshield. My next door neighbor has a new 17 Key Largo CC with a 75 Merc and it goes 35. The KL is a pretty light boat I think though.
