What size Explorer and what year. That would help to figure out if you can do it.

I'm actaually thinking about taken out my sink, and building a tackle center there. I never use the sink. The fresh water hose on the transom is all I need.

Took some pics but dont think they will help you.....as far as the plumbing goes the pump is on the right hand side trough the small doornext to bait tank ,down and towards the bow kinda hard to replace.Maybe sea bob could chime in to the wearabouts of the holding tank? Think it is under the step in the cabin? If thats where its at ,might be a tough job to retrofit .

Fishing Dave, Bob,
Now, I know this may sound terrible, but I stood next to a 1000 Explorer hulls being built, and never noticed where the FW tank was installed!  I can tell you on an Osprey, but that don't help...

I'm really thinking it may be located in the port wing of the helm area by the passenger seat.  There is a large open area between the vertical face of the wing and the hullside.  If it is indeed under the companionway steps, well, then, I would shoot the assh0le who decided it should go there!

The pics Bob posted are exactly as they were installed back then, pump behind the small door portside of the livewell, transom shower in the transom walkthrough, blue water lines running forward...that get's me thinking, just a minute...

Bob, have you ever pulled that sink out?  Obviously removable with 6 screws.  Could that be where the water tank lives?  Maybe?  If so, then the retrofit would be a piece of cake...kind of!

Yes I have pulled the sink. Big hole its not under there.Good spot for a tackle draw. The filling spout is on the port  side, thats why I am thinking its under the step in cabin.

So wouldn't be so much of a hard thing to do, probally harder to find the parts then do the job.

labboss (Bob),

AWESOME PICS!  Well done sir, YOU ARE THE MAN!

Good to see everything is still in pretty good shape behind the bulkhead/panel.  The black grime on your water tank vent hose is pretty typical in any water system.

By removing that b/head, a water tank can be slid in (awkward, but doable!) and secured.  As you look aft towards the rod rings, it is a pretty easy run with a snake back to the transom for a transom shower.  But, unlike Bob's boat, I would fab a small platform by he water tank and mount the FW pump in that area, then tee off the output side to feed the sink and the transom shower.

Back then we used Whale water line and fittings, and I still think they're the best.  Here's a link...Whale Water Systems.

You can get the stuff at WM, but you'll find it cheaper on the internet.

Thanks for the help, Bob! :thumleft:

thanks for all the pics , it looks great! not to hard to do. I notice there is a lot of wasted space under the sink. I might just do the transom shower , and save the sink area for tackle. What kind of custom work have you guys done for your tackle?
