Removing console from a 1995 175 Osprey

Tying to work on battery and wiring inside the console.
Access is very difficult unless you are a contortionist.
It's just screwed to the deck and doesn't appear to have any adhesive holding it down.
Is it removable without destroying wiring under the console?
It has a bait well and seat in the front
Thanks in advance,
Bob on Tampa Bay

Looking at pics of your model, I would think that you probably, at the very least, will be able to lean the console to the starboard side of the boat. You may need to disconnect the live well drain hose, battery connections, etc.

Thank you very much.
Looking at it that makes perfect sense.
I want to remove the battery so I can replace the Mickey Mouse hold down some previous owner cobbled in there.
Thank you again,
Bob on Tampa Bay
I guess we can close this one down:-)

Another way is to remove the helm seat and go at it that way. At least this way you're laying down 8)
The least you disturb those screws around the console the better. Keep them snug and sealed. That is the normal place for water intrusion, through the screw holes and this starts rotting the flooring (wood) - been there done that. Was cruising in and hit the back of a wave a little too hard and the people holding onto the windsheild grab rail "helped" to rip the screws right out of the floor. Floor was shot around each screw hole.

Thank you!
That was a really great bit of advice. I can easily remove the cooler seat by taking out 12 screws which look as if they were repositioned in the past. I'll bed them with silicone when I put them back to keep from rotting out the floor.
Great advice and help.
Thanks again,

Your advice is most welcome and I hadn't given the condition of the existing screw holes much thought. I think I will remove both the console and cooler seat and check on the screws for tightness.
I have some penetrating epoxy from the Rot Doctor which I used very successfully to restore soft mahogany. The epoxy really did a good job of making soft wood solid again.
I have some syringes for wood restoration work and can inject the epoxy into the wood surrounding the screw holes if needed. I will bed the screws with marine grade silicone whether I find any soft wood or not.
Thanks again for the tips.
