I drove from Louisiana to Pompano Beach, FL, 1690 miles round trip to pick up my 170. Only paid $2000.00 for the boat which I thought was a great deal until my wife decided to turn it into a family vacation. After a few days in Miami, a few days at Disney, a few days in Cedar Key and countless miles of zigzagging from intresting spot to interesting spot the vacation part ended up costing more than the boat. No worries I love my family and wouldn't have traded it.

At this point I'm gonna plug The Aqua Toy Store in Pompana which is the place I bought the rig from. These guys were professional, courteous and went out of there way to help me out. If your ever in the market for a boat check them out on the web. They might have what your looking for and they are easy to deal with.

Glad to see I'm not the only crazy person driving halfway across the country for a skiff.

1300 miles from Chicago to Cape Coral FL. My 170 was my fathers boat that he purchased new in Illinois 1977. We spent countless hours fishing on it from the Great Lakes to all across the midwestern states. When he retired and moved to Florida, he brought the 170 with him. I took ownership in 1994 and brought it back to Illinois.

I bought my CCP from an owner in northern PA in (guess which month) January!

Steve, the seller, agreed to meet me in Maryland so I would not have to tow it all the way from northern PA back to NC.  It snowed all the way through MD and VA, and the boat was still covered with ice and snow when I got her back to NC.  Thank the Lord for 4WD.  :thumleft:

Then it took a few days to thaw her out...

Not real far.

84 CCP:
Ft. Lauderdale to Homestead (about 60 miles +/- one way). PO towed it to my home in Lauderdale

91 WAC:
Tallahassee to Seminole (almost St. Pete). About 300 miles one way.

I wish I could say I only took one road trip to find mine, but thats not the case. Now that I think about it I really racked up some miles in my search for a 19-6.

First one - Largo, FL  to Jupiter Inlet, FL - 220mi. One way  (turn out to be a crappy rebuild)
Second  -  Largo, FL to East Orlando, FL - 120mi. One way (Owner lied about condition)
Third and final - Largo, FL to Keaton Beach, FL - 255mi. One way (1975-19-6 Time Capsule)

Total Round Trip Miles = 1190

After reading Skoot's response it occurred to me that in my quest for the WAC, I spent two days visiting three boats (testing two).

From Tallahassee to Palm City Fl. to look at a 215 WAC: nothing like photo, 381 miles.

Headed north on I-95 to Jacksonville to view a 245 WAC. Beautiful boat, ran great but just too big, 240 miles.

Continued north on 95 to just outside Charleston SC. Spent the night, then sea trialed a 225 WAC. Chamber of Commerce day in Charleston Harbor, boat ran perfect, looked great but again not what I thought it would be (the boat), 240 miles.

Left for Tally later that day, 400 miles so.......

1267 round trip (had a great little adventure) but came up short.

Drove from my house in North St. Pete to pick up the boat at Pasadena Yacht club in Gulfport FL 8 miles each way... so 16 miles round trip.   This does not include driving to look at the boat at blind pass marina... twice.
