Explorer 225 pilothouse?
« on: November 20, 2009, 03:26:16 AM »
Has anybody seen or heard of someone, turning an explorer into a pilothouse? I keep looking at mine and thinking it might be doable. If I do it I was thinking of full blown ,enclose the back and redo the helm and passenger seating . Might look kinda cool too.
Any thoughts would be cool....................

LB2003,
In my search for a WAC, I came across a few.
A 200XF that had been converted for use in Alaska.
A larger 80s model XF that was advertised on this site
A CC (Osprey?) that I saw, that really came out nice,

And this. http://www.classicmako.com/projects/xshark/

Being a WAC fan, it's nice to dream.

That is a very cool boat.

I have inquired with local marine fab people about converting my 225 Explorer to a solid glass enclosure instead of the canvas but so far have found no one that has any experience doing them, the picture in the link above has me wanting to maybe consider that idea.

Does anyone know who did that pilot house?

Thanks.

WD.

You guys might want to give this outfit a try.

Pacific Pilothouse

We had them make us one a couple of years ago on a Pro-Line 25 Sport.  Not cheap, but well built.

It is a modified Farallon Pilothouse.

I'd be curious about the cost.
It appears that they have several tops that will fit numerous WACs and can probably graft one on my 210 Walkaround.

The Bimini and helm enclosure is Florida boating and when properly cared for, last a long time but I could see a PH on a WAC.

The little pilot house they built for us...

Our cost?  $6181.00.   OUCH!!!

Probably better to look locally at some good glass people that just want to survive, rather than gouge...
