1973 Aquasport 19-6 Rebuild
« on: November 07, 2009, 02:25:12 AM »
Hey All,

Take a peek at my aquasport I bought. It is a 73', 19-6, I attached some pictures in this email, I hope they work. Currently the boat is getting completely restored. The boat has a FULL folding tower, dual sations, on top of the tower i have a 13 gallon livewell in case im fishing by myself and dont wanna run down the tower to the lower livewell. I also have a 40 gallon livewell by hammerhead boatworks in Tampa, they have the best livewells for AS in my optinion! Google them they are AWSOME. The boat is currently completely taken appart, only thing left on it is the motor. Floor is completey out, entire boat is completely sanded down( 4layers of paint on hull and floor each, wow!) Bad patch job on hull being fixed. Having him add a fiberglass anchor compartment up front. The boat currently has a 2001 225 yamaha vmax, past owner said with fuel, gear and 2 people boat would GPS 56 mph WOT. I will add more pics as I get them please check back in soon. In the meantime I would love some comments, tips, etc Im open for anything!!!

Til then,
Chris

Wow,
So the worst sitation today. I was supposed to get the boat back today with brand new stringers glassed up and ready for a deck. Until I got there and they used 2 x 10 preasure treated, laid them down sideways instead of up an down, it is a mess. Huge globs of resin and glass everywhere. I will have pics posted soon of this god awful job, then he had the nerve to ask e for 2200 dollars  - cops had to come, it was ugly... Looks like ill be doing this rebuild myself, good old saying is true, if you want something done right, do it yourself! I will need everyones help with this one, its time to cut all this crap they call a "stringer" and start from scratch! Pics to come asap!

P.s. does anyone know where to get 3 lb foam core for my stringers? just like the ones in this thread  http://classicaquasport.com/smf/index.php?topic=957.45 Id like to use this as well when Im done grinding for 2 weeks to remove all this garbage work...

So I sent the boat off to have the stringers redone and some holes flled on the top cap and this is what I got back. NIGHTMARE! These guys claim to be "professionals". I am taking them to court for my money back, please feel free to cherp in on these pictures! They have basically ruined the boat, I have currently started to grind everything out! What a pain...

Outside sanded down, no too bad of a job, still not completed obviously...

Ok let me explain this mess... 2 x 8 PT, (4) 2 x 10 x 8 PT stacked, then 2 x 8 T pieces, all is not level and it follows the curve of the hull. When aske how the hell I'd even put a floor on, I was told " you make a wedge" lol brilliant guys

This is the stern part of the stringers, it is not even tied into the transom, I guess they consider tieing in glass stretched over to the transom.
