Overpower my 200 Osprey or buy a 222 ?
« on: October 18, 2009, 09:41:15 PM »
I recently bought a Suzuki 175 4 stroke with intention of repowering my 1997 200 Osprey several have said the engine is too heavy and will submerge the scuppers. Should I look for something a little larger? Used along shore near Tampa(Tarpon Springs). What would a 222 or a 222CCP perform like with a 175?

That would be a nice engine on a 200CCP or a 222CCP.  They were both designed for twins, so the extra weight is not much of an issue.  CCPs also have a 25" transom height, so make sure the motor has a 25" length shaft.

See ya on the water!

I think it would be ok
I have 19.6 FF 170 I/O
(which is the same type boat hull)
That I/O setup MUST weigh more than a 175 out board.
On top of that I have a 30 gallon bait tank in the back of the boat as well!
I say go for it
