Badonquasport196 you think the tanks that big that would be great, I stuck a 6' bar in there the tank moved but not a whole lot. just the front half is foamed in .The tank will have to wait until we get rid of these couple of Nor'Easters that are going to hit us this weekend ya know street flooding.beach erosion, and maybe some good surf fishing for the striped ones

This is a pic I pulled from the photo gallery; it states the tank is 50 gallons

The foam around that tank really holds on tight.  I'm sure with enough persuasion you can get it out with some pry tools, but the lift-truck sure made it feel like I was cheating.

Side note- your 240 is beautiful  :thumleft:

Rick when it's time for non-skid I'll be using your method, I've used it on the 240 on the two deck hatches and the two boxes on the stern. White water runs and cream nonskid, just using perfection 2-part and mason sand sifted to the size I want for traction , not so coarse on the deck (barefeet) but a little coarser on the back part of the stern when stepping from the dock on to the boat (November & December mornings can put a little frost on them). At some point in time I'll do the whole deck and casting platform and gunnels. And I'll be doing the same nonskid method and colors on the 19'6. I have had a bunch of compliments on it. And I have to Thank You and everybody here.such a wealth of knowledge. Not much done on the 19'6 with back to back nor 'easters, alot of overtime setting barrels out for flooding here on the island.

Well I spent the morning working on the 240 battery issues(lack of use)Got that taken care of and jumped on the 19'6 to see if I could get the tank removed, after an hour of working on it she popped out.

Sme pitting on the bottom of tank

This is weird there is a small saw cerf that water was leaking from when I step near it

This was what the tank was sitting on resin on top bare on the bottom

Well I got some time on the boat today removed the back deck and found why water was leaking from the saw cerf, the balsa core was soaking wet and the glass was coming lose

This is the wood along the center stringer

How do you support the deck, cut the top deck and wood and leave the bootom flange

The stringers look in good shape but the glass on the bottom is coming lose, just put some resin and reglass?

These four holes were in the stringer, why?

Heres just the back deck again soaking wet.

I didn't want to get to crazy until I asked some question about how to support the new decking around the gunwales and the rear scupper area,
Any comments, suggestions, tips, are all appreciated, not sure how to reglass the deck and have support on the edges. Thank in advance Doug

It appears from the pics that only the top side of the deck is glassed.  Is that the case?  I thought that both sides were glassed.

Im curious myself.  I looked at a 1972 19-6 that had those same square cut outs in the stringers.  Maybe they act as vents to let any water evaporate that might get trapped in the foam stringers.

Hey Skoot, No the deck was glassed on both sides, some areas are real thick woven roven and some areas aren't as thick,The other stringers have the same size holes, but I think that was to pour the foam into the stringers, Could you answer my question about how to put the new deck down and support the deck along the sides?, not sure how close to cut the old deck to the sides.

Most rebuilds look like they have left about 1 to 2 inches around the edge to bond to. Here is a link to shine's flatback rebuild on their site. Also maddog's is on that site also.

Thanks Bob! I was looking for lilrich's and just now found it. Hey terntwo if anybody gives you any members name go to members list and search for their name by entering the first letter. Then you can go through their posts, lilrich's main thread is kind of obvious when you do this. I looked and here's his! Wow rick 30 pages!!!
