I am considering purchasing a 222 FF Deep V.  It is a 1979 one owner and the pictures look great.  I have two questions for now.  1] Does this boat have any wood in the hull or transom? 2] If the foam needed to be replaced in the stringers could it be done through the gas tank access or would the floor have to be cut out?

Welcom to the site FC!  Here are some answers to your questions:

1] Does this boat have any wood in the hull or transom?
Answer:  Yes, the transom is wood, and so is most of the deck core.  See if you can "bounce" the motor on the transom - if the transom flexes, it's time to recore.  Check for soft spots in the deck - it may be solid, but if you find soft spots, a redeck is in the future.    

2] If the foam needed to be replaced in the stringers could it be done through the gas tank access or would the floor have to be cut out?  
Answer:  No you would have to take the deck out - but you can check the condition of the strigers through some access ports - depending on use and storage, the foam might be fine...

Thanks for the quick answer.  If I do not detect any soft spots, what are the odds that the boat is strong and should stay that way for several years?  I believe it has only had limited use in the last ten years and mostly fresh water since it was new.

If the foam is soaked, you could remove the cap and the liner and pull out the foam outside the stingers.  To get the foam out of the stringers you'll need to cut access holes in the top of the stringers remove and replace the foam then patch the holes, fill outside the stringers then replace the liner and the cap.  It sounds like a lot of work but if the sole is solid then you save youself a lot of time and effort filling and fairing for a finished look.
