Good luck on your decision! When maddog was rebuilding his 22-2 he found he had a hook from the hull not being supported. He posted some pics on bateau2.com. As you can tell he used a level to show the dip. Any long very straight piece should work. In the discussion on his thread if it is hooked it sounds like it only becomes a problem at high speeds. The hook would show from front to back down the length of the hull. If it is hooked either use that as a bargain point or decide whether to fix once purchased. To fix it correctly looks like you would have to flip the hull.

Thanks MD for the use of your pics, I'm glad I follwed your rebuild. After reading your post I went and checked my hull because of the condition of my original trailer. I got lucky mines straight as a board!

It looks to me that the trailer winch post can be moved foreward That should bring the boat over the bunks better.

So I finally took the drive to see the boat and came back empty handed.  There were several things wrong with the boat and motor and he was not very flexible with the price so I passed.

So the continual quest remains for a 19-6

its amazing to me how much you guys know about boats. I love these old aquasports but would be a little nervous trying to buy one or rebuild with my limited knowledge. I am two years into my first boat. Hopefully I can follow some of these rebuilds and in a few years feel comfortable enough to take a shot. Am i crazy to even be thinking about this being a 2 year rookie?

Nice boat. I checked it out last night. I think the listing expired today though. What years do you want to stay between when looking for the 19-6 & 222's?

I personally, am looking for a 19-6 only.  I like the ones with the flat caps and recessed interior gunwales. I think the only years AS produced the 19-6 with this style cap was between 1970 and 1975.  All years after 1975 the cap is about 4-5" taller (from the rub rail to the top of the cap) and they enclosed the interior gunwales.

Yes, but Im almost positive its a 19-1 as it has one large storage compartment with butterfly style hatch doors on the front deck.  The 19-6's all have 3 hatches/compartments 1 large one in the center and 2 smaller ones on each side.

Is that your boat?

No, not my boat. I will be selling my boat in the next 6 months in hopes of getting an Aquasport in the future. My buddy has a completely rebuilt 19-6  and i fell in love with these models. It is not my time now but i am on this site to learn as much as possible so when my time comes, i don't make any stupid mistakes. I might have to hire one of you guys to inspect it for me before the purchase!! LOL.  Did you say that one in Brunswick, GA was not a flatback?

Hey skoot did you ever call the guy in Brunswick? I called him and he said the boat is actually in Keaton beach in dry storage. This one sounds really nice and he said if you want to ride in it just call him. He bought it in 97 from the original owner who had it in storage for 25 years and he has continued this practice. I asked about water blisters and he said there were none.
If I had the cash I would get this one while I restore mine. Floor and transom are solid although I would still get them checked.

Hey skoot look at the classified list. I posted a new link to it. I called him again and he has been trying to load pics this morning. As they are on dialup their phone rings busy when on computer.
