My vote goes with the graybeard....No telling what funk you could experience four layers down.

Go with the soda-blast.....its cheap. And they come to you.

Thanks LilRichard. You've been here a helluva long time...glad you're back. Make it permanent.

I'm always close, I am just a lurker now!  I'll post up stuff whenever I think I can add value.  Otherwise I just watch the cool rebuilds...

Wish the spring gathering was not the date it is, I am already paid to be at Jennings GP all weekend.

transom wrapped

before filling: bottom is not that bad really.... the last 5 feet or so had an s shape to it fore and aft, got the high spots grinded down now just need to fill

nice split. already have3 layers of 1708 on the inside of this

lots of shotty patchwork to be ground out

stem already has been worked on, and is surprisingly solid.

keel is a mess, had about a 3/4" curve to it the last couple feet, real wavy up past the windows too. going to take the stroke sander all the way down it . and replace that section with come corecell

Very cool you have her upside down, Now what seems like the never ending sanding starts, I thought mine would be turned turtle for only a week or two max, but its been two months now.  Seems like a vicious circle of putting expensive material on then sanding it right back off. I quit taking pictures until the paint is done, Its just going so slow going its driving me crazy, seems I sand for hours and see very little progress. If there is one thing this rebuild is teaching me its patience.
Don't let it bring you down.
What are you using to do the faring with? The awlgrip 2 part faring compound is awesome.
extending that keel?
She is looking good and your catching up again

ya nobody ever sees progress until paint is on it! 22ft is nothing compared to what im used to though, and im not looking for yacht quality either, as long as the bottom is nice and straight im fine. very little fairing on the top either, just probably the rear part of the cap and the deck up front, and the transom/hullside joint of course. for compound i mix the 2:1 epoxy with about 2:3 cabosil and micro balloons, depending on how thick i want it, or what kind of sandability i want. i thought about extending the keel but im just going to keep it how it was, i might gradually bring it down to nothing though instead of having it run full height all the way to the end, well see...

DW - Might I suggest you reconsider the keel extension?  It makes a big difference on the handling of these boats - they slide bad enough WITH the extension, without...
