22-2 Window issues
« on: July 19, 2009, 09:02:48 PM »
I have the standard windows in the hull of my 22-2.  I noticed that there are cracks around them.  They look like they have been there a while, but I don't want to leave them unattended.  I'm not ready for a  major rebuild so does anyone have suggestions to keep her afloat and fishing.

Also what is the best way to repair small gouges?

Thanks!

Can water get trough the crack inside the hull ?
As for  repairing small gouges like that, just rough up the gouge with a dremel tool, clean with acetone, fill with gelcoat(just enough to fill it), cover with masking tape, once it cures remove the tape,if you notice that you didn't apply enough gelcoat, repeat that step. Sand with 120,220,400,600 grit and finish it with rubbing compound

At this point I don't believe any water is coming in or out of the boat through the cracks.  I plan on doing a test this weekend to be sure.  Any suggestions on what to fill the cracks with?
