I had a question on the transom. The transom is solid. The wood is wet but it has not rotted. I drilled numerous holes to dry it out a bit but it's still wet. I poured "Git-Rot" into the holes but still feel as though the wood is wet. I was just going to fill the holes with epoxy filler and re-enforce the transom with 3/4 marine plywood and a custom stainless steel bracket for the outboard. Is this the right way of going about it? I would hate to remove the whole transom. Anyone resolve a similiar situation without cutting out the transom?

If the wood is wet, I would not chance it.  Why try to do a "patch job" when you're this far along in your rebuild?  The transom is really not that big of a deal compared to what you're already into.

Haven't done it myself but have seen plenty of people more than happy with sea cast and other products like it.  I ended up drilling out all the old holes in my 19-6 and filling them with hard wood dowels then glassing over them.  Keep in mind that my transom was not wet and this was a preventative measure. And it seems to have worked out great.

I had the same issue two years ago when I first got my boat, actually freaked about it  the transom was wet but solid and no sign of rot, made a bunch of holes, inserted in each of them a piece of cloth to act like a wick, got a lot moisture out of my transom that way but not completely, filled up the holes and as of today my transom is still strong. I know eventually it will need to be replace but for now everything is cool

If your transom is solid with no sign of rot don't worry about it, down the road when time comes, replace your transom with the pour in seacast type of product

Thanks everyone. I think I'm probably going to do it the right way and just replace it. I'll cut out the fiberglass in the back and leave an inch all around. Remove the wood, put in new marine plywood and patch the fiberglass piece back it. Seems like the easiest way and shouldnt take to long.

Good choice, like LilRichard said "The transom is really not that big of a deal compared to what you're already into."
But seriously consider Seacast it will save you a lot of work

I checked out Seacast and it says that you should avoid West Systems and epoxy. If I tear the transom apart, how am I supposed to put it back together without epoxing over the Seacast?

With Seacast you don't need to take the transom apart, you take the cap off , dig out the old transom from the top(some people use a chainsaw )

A little more progress. Got the floor on, filled, matted and fiberglassed. Put 8 tubes of PL4000 ultimate between the floor and stringers. Used all stainless steel screws. Epoxied the bottom of the floor before putting it in. Then matted and fiberglassed the top. I'll do a couple more layers of epoxy after sanding. I put a white pigment in the epoxy. Works well! I cut the transom out and fiberglassed a new one in. I've got 3/4 marine plywood and 1/2 marine plywood with a layer of fiberglass in between. I then injected more epoxy into the remaining wood and used filler around the new cut out transom. I'll be filling the rest of the spots and sealing it up today. I don't have many pictures of how I put the transom together because I wanted to make sure I do it quickly so all the components dried together. I clamped some plywood on top of it so it is all level.Used lots of epoxy and West Systems is sweet but pretty expensive. I'm on my 5th gallon. Let me know if you have any advice.

I fiberglassed the seam on the transom. Sanded it down and then used west systems filler to smooth it out. I'll sand down the filler today. Looking like a boat again.

I'm going to start painting in a week or so. I'm putting down a barrier coat on the bottom followed by a multi season. Does anyone have any recommendations for the topside and deck? Which paints and primers to use? I'm not sure whether I'm spraying or rolling and tipping yet. Recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm thinking about getting the boat professionally sprayed. Would anyone have an recommendations on paint shops around the CT or NY area? Pricing?

Lucas on the center console is that black starboard you used? looks great im redoing my boat and want to fix up my console without purchasing a new one.
