PLEASE HELP ME NAME THE BOAT
« on: June 02, 2009, 07:08:19 PM »
In looking at and reading this site it seems there just aren't that many boats out there of this particular make/model,, I dont know if it is a "rare" boat or what but I have seen just a few out there and Never one with the T-tops.  Even in this forum I dont see any that are just like it.

I really want to name the boat...after 4 years,  I haven't yet come up with a suitable name. ..  but this forum has renewed my interest.. I must name the boat.... I want the name to be special, and suitable,, I want it to make a statement about not only the Boat itself but about us, the people who own it.

I know boats should be named in accordance with the history of the people who own them and I really want the name of our boat to be something that is personal to us :: So a little History:  The hubby and I are 54 and 40 respectively, We met for the 1st time when I was about 5 playing in the sand box when the hubby brought daddy home from work one day.   The next time I was 19 and working in a convenience store near where he worked, we dated and lived together for a while, broke up,(for 8 years)  he got married, and divorced and then our paths crossed again in '97.. we have been married since Oct 2000,  (what can i say,,, it was fate)  We have no children, just one spoiled rotten dog,(a siberian husky) We love to fish but frankly we are not very good at it.. (but getting better)..... We dont TARGET specific fish,,, we just bait a line and are happy with whatever will bite.... We are certified divers but dont do much diving... we spend a lot of money on the boat and fishing... We figure our fish cost us about $700 per lb (calculating boat expense, gas, bait, etc)  So we dont save any money catching fish over buying them at the fish market, but therapy is what $100 an hour???  :(  :P

We work hard and play harder.  We have all the toys,  A 99 triple black corvette convertible,  2005 exec edition Tahoe, '92 silverado pick up truck,  a 2007 suzuki BLVD  motorcycle,  a 20 ft homemade pontoon boat powered by 90HP Yamaha,  17 foot Startracker flats boat Powered by 60 hp Johnson, and this one,,, up till now known only as  "the big boat"  powered by 250hp yamaha..

We both ADORE our mothers..

His mom's name is ANNIE IRENE

My mom's name is CORINE LORETTA

I thought of somehow using ANNIE in place of ANY but could think of ANNIEthing to go with it..

I thought of the following names:

the GRANNY GRUNT:   this was a nickname we gave to my mom years ago,,,because she grunts when she moves... (arthritis you know)  then lo and behold, we actually like to eat GRUNTS, (who knew)   the boat is 23 years old....and therefore could be considered a GRANNY

The AGENT X---  ( I love to tell STORIES) one night, long before we ever had the boat, while watching a Chuck Norris film, I told the hubby that I taught Chucky everything he knows,  (all that kung fu stuff he does),  I was known  in those days only as 'AGENT X"  if anyone ever really knew my real name, I would have to kill them... top secret government stuff you know.

The 401k, or  OUR RETIREMENT--- We borrowed the $$ from the hubbys 401k account to buy the boat and paid ourselves back at a healthy 7% interest. This was the one good deal we ever made,, we bought a boat, paid ourselves interest and actually MADE money on the deal.

If it were powered by EVINRUDE I would call it the RUDE DUDE--- hubbys name being RUDY... but it has a 250 yamaha.... so that doesn't really work.

The "COAL MINERS DAUGHTER" ... my full legal name is "Loretta Lynn" Strickland (yeah,  mom was a fan)

The "STRICKLY BIZNESS:   ... our last name being STRICKLAND

Let me know which of these you like.... or offer up any other suggestions please...... I really want a cool name that goes with the boat itself and with us as a couple.

You already have some good ones and those will always mean more to you guys in the long run. The only thing I can come up with is to combine your moms names "Annie Corine", or my favorite" Irene Corine"!

I kinda like "Paid For" but....

Lewis is dead on.
The name has to come from you two, not from anyone else.
You know like... the "Miss Lynn" or the "L & R"

You mentioned that you "work hard and play hard".  You could name the the boat "Working Hard" or "Hardly Working".  You also mentioned that you and your husband have crossed paths throughout the years.  You could go with "Together Again" or "Crossed Paths".  You could incorporate your names and call her the "Rudy Lynn".  A play off the Agenxt X, would be "Top Secret".  Of the ones you suggested, "Strictly Bizness" is the one that resonates the most with me.

Hope that helps,
JG

JoseGasper, one of your names was the first that popped into my head, but it was for twin engines....."twogether again", but oh well.  You really have to decide one for yourselves and be creative....If you have a 2 stroke, it could be "Two Stroked Paths". It could be interpreted as dirty though.  Don't take this the wrong way, but "Gel Bait" is cool too.....lmao.  Or "Jelly Bait".  I swear no offense is intended.  But your toys, and the fact that you all live young, and of course the little age difference......Imma shut up.  My family has "foot in mouth disease".  I hope for my sake your hubby has a good sense of humor.

Oh man, I had to edit to add one that I think has an awesome ring to it. Two Stroke Views.

No Worries,

We Do have a sense of humor and are not easily offended....(the hubby knows he is a dirty old man with a sweet young thing HA HA)  we like the double meaning kind of stuff... keep em coming, I know that ultimately we have to name the boat ourselves, But I thought with knowing a little history sombody else might come up with something we never thought of.... and you guys have come up with some good ones so far...

I do kinda like Gel Bait

Strickly Rude (both names)

Lynnstruck (obvious)

Toys-R-Us (seems to fit)

Yamma-Mama-DingDong (motor & owners?!  :-)

Strickly Aquasport (use the classic lettering)

Sand Box Sweetheart (nostalgic)

Roodalin!  (both names - maybe Roodalynn?) or Noodlin' Roodalin

Crossed Wakes (seems to fit)

Rudely Linear (names again)

Jose, Actually, after making up that name, I think I'm going to use it too.  My wife is 8 years younger than me.   If I can only get that remodel done now.

Thanks for all the great names:: now it's just a matter of which one we like the best... I can be very creative at times but then at other times I draw a complete  blank. I never in a million years would have come up with the ones that you all did.

I am glad I have 3 boats, so I dont have to pick just one name.

We are in the process of narrowing it down.. expect to have a name picked and (if finances allow) the lettering on within the next month or so.

YOU GUYS ARE GREAT  :salut:
