Sell it and start over?
« on: May 27, 2009, 10:02:51 AM »
I can't believe this. I bought a nice 1995 225 CC. Spent the time having it repainted, I rewired it and even put on a brand new Suzuki 225 with a warranty till 2015.

So the GF and I are out out on it's maiden cruise when she asks "Where's the toilet?" I pull out the porta-potty. She was not amused. Looks like I am going to have to sell the boat and get a cuddy cabin.

How was I to know?

Seems like selling your girlfriend may be a bit extreme, possibly even illegal. But good luck starting over. I'm sure you'll find one that can pee in a porta-potty.  :jocolor:

You tell bashful bladder to figure it out. Four options exist: pee in the porta, go for a swim, hang it over the side, or peepee her pants. Tell her to pick, they figure it out real quick believe me. If not you just found a new escape for guy trips.

If she is that squemish about a porta potty, got forbid getting bait of fish guts on her!!!  From the GIRL in the forum here is a possible solution.  If privacy is her issue they do sell the porta potties with a pop up curtain around them, cant remember where I saw them but I know I have.   If it is just the IDEA of a porta potty, you might want to re-examine your relationship. When looking at a boat with a potty in the cabin you are opening a whole new can of worms for both expense and maintenence, is she really worth it??  Ask her if she is willing to keep up the maintenence and cleaning of an on board toilet and dump tank.  I personally would MUCH rather pee in a porta than have to keep that thing clean.  YUK :puker:

:flower: I am 100 per cent woman, :flower:  not at all manly, but come on.. when in Rome do as the Romans do, and when on a boat, pee where ever you can.  If  your girl is one of those with stomach issues and pee is not the only uhm "issue" just make sure she is EXTREMELY careful about what she eats the night and morning before a voyage, I had to learn quickly that for the comfort of everyone around,  I can only eat very bland, greaseless foods the night and morning before a day on the boat. Eat about 2 to 3hours before hitting the water and go potty JUST before leaving port.  And drink WATER, not coffee or alcohol,.  Trust me it makes a big difference and is better than getting dumped for not being able to hang with the guys.

mine has a cabin, but no potty, just a a sink and a BED (there is something to be said for cabins) , the guys, well, they do what guys do on a boat,  I use a bucket  :salut:

Kudos to the lady on the forum.  All of the ladies use basic buckets on our race sailboats.  If they won't use them, they don't get to race.  (every pound counts on the boats and porta potties, well, is unneeded weight)

I just researched a device for the front that pulls up like a tent. That should give her the privacy she needs and a plce for folks to hide out in case the weather turns foul.

But I like the way you think. :thumleft:

I had the same problem - got one of these portable cabanas - pops up in a few seconds and fits in the bow area.  Just put the porta-potty in there and you've got a loo!  I use the Pett toilet system - folds down small and is easy to deal with:

Enclosure - good deal at $40 at Sportsmans Guide:

Pett toilet - $80 at Sportmans Guide:
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/p ... x?a=121819

Pett toilet - $90 at Campmor:

Pett toilet and Pett enclosure system - $290 at Campmor:

So now she can have her own bathroom/changing room on the water!  Too bad they don't make it in pink!

PINK?  Yep, when mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.  And her favorite color?  PINK!  Or one of those fru-fru colors that are just a different version of pink - like mauve, carmine, rose, and my favorite:  amaranth!

Am I whipped?  Yeah, probably.  But as the Orleans song says, "we've been together since way back when..." and been with the same wife for over 30 years.  Life is good...   :D
