Mounting a new fuel tank, have 5200, need help!

I have a new tank and some 5200-
Most people I've seen on here put the tanks on some sort of rails to give it a little breathing room.
I was going to use starboard, but was told 5200 doesn't stick well to it.
Do you glue the hatch down with 5200 as well? Or are you using something that comes off a little easier?
- like silicone on the lip the lid sits on, and 5200 in the crack around the outside?
Where do I find this rail material?
What is it?
I think I need ~1/4" max for clearance.
Thanks!!

Since I'm looking for the rails, this might be better in Resources?

Fishhyren11:
most of use tank rubber, which is closed cell Hard neoprene fuel/oil resistant, 2" wide, running the length of the tank, most put 4 strips, depending on the rubber width.
I called a bunch of rubber places, and one guy was nice enough to sell me a scrap piece but was 3" wide so I used 3 strips.
I 5200'd them down to the bottom of my tank {took a week to dry
},then we used calk/adhesive to fasten into the coffin, then we also used the original metal straps.

Maybe after you find them and it is something that is worthy of being put in the Resource forum.

I ordered and attached the hard neoprine strips to my tank with 5200.
It's just about cured-
Next question, I'm not planning on using the metal straps (i've removed them)
How should I connect the tank to the bottom?
I'd like to be able to take it out again if REALLY needed w/out ripping the bottom of the boat out.
Is 5200 TOO strong? Should I attach it with something that's not quite as permanent?
If so, what do you suggest?
Thanks!

Yes 5200 is good for your needs. Run a thin bead (1/8") on each of the rubber straps. I had the tank sitting on edge when I did that, then with a couple of 1.5" web straps I lifted, rolled it over and eased it into the hold. Then, just pull the strap out. A buddy could come in handy but did mine solo. When (heaven forbid) you should have to remove the tank the thin bead should give up before the thicker beads you applied between the tank and the rubber. You're good to go.
