176 Family Fisherman
« on: March 22, 2009, 07:47:26 AM »
Another new Aquasport owner
Hellow just picked up a 1979 176 Family Fisherman with a evinrude 140. Its pretty good shape water ready. The rude has less than 4 hours on a rebuild. The only soft spot is on the fuel tank cover panel. Looking foward to some time on the water.

Ya, I know I was told that they only ran the model for two years, and stuck with the 196 FF Don't realy know. I looked all around this site and couldn't find another one.

Spent the weekend repairing the trailer, never seen on like this befor it is galvanized square tubing and I-beam. With keel rollers and wobble wheels. Hoping to take it out this coming weekend. I will post up some pictures soon.

Update,
I have been out of town with my Job from 10 April till last Fri. Took the boat out Saturday morning and got 61 mph (gps) out of it and it, and it handles great. I think I will paint it this fall and plan on keeping it. Looking forward to a lot of time on the water.

Sorry but I was wrong. My friend was working the GPS and it was set on KMH. I gave it a tune up fogged the carbs ect.. Took it to Santee cooper area over the week end to catch a few cats, and drag the girls around on a tube. So with my wife, myself and another couple on board along with some other gear, and a large cooler with the items needed to keep the sun at bay (beer, ect) + 25-30 gal of fuel and the GPS set on MPH she ran 45+ at 5200 rpm's. Makes me happy and handles nice, and the wife love's her so all is good.
