VENT HOLE?

i have a 170 striper....This is or might be a stupid question....i was wondering what this metal vent cap on the starboard side of the boat was for.....it's sort of below the gas cap on the side of the boat.....thanks in advance

sounds like the fuel tank vent,off the tank theres a feed line {ususally 3/8" ID}a fill line{usually 1.5" ID}and a vent line {usually 5/8" ID}
